install Lync 2013 Ent Front Pool Back-end database on a SQL 2008 Cluster

hello Lyncees,

Currently we have:

  • OCS2007R2 Ent. Ed. Pool with 1 Ent. Front-End Server
  • the back-end DB for this pool is SQL2005 Fail-over Cluster

Our project is to migrate the current setup to Lync 2013 Ent.

My Topology/Infra Plan is the following:

  • install a Lync2013 Ent. Front-End Pool with only 1x Ent. Front-End server
  • the back-end DB for this pool(along with monitoring, and other DBs) will be all hosted on a MS-SQL 2008 Fail-over Cluster (since we already invested in SQL Cluster h/w + s/w before, so we dont need to create a separate SQL mirroring env. just for our Lync2013)

Perform the documented 10 phases for migration OCS2007R2 to Lync2013:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205375.aspx

My question here is:

will my new Lync2013 Ent Pool works fine knowing that its back-end DB is a not supported option by MS (it is a SQL Cluster) ???

Thanks,
