Hi Guys,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on an issue we have been experiencing since the deployment of Lync 2013 Standard. Currently push notifications are working on ALL Windows, Android, and iOS devices using the Lync 2010 client. This is true whether the mobile app is open or forced closed on the mobile device. Push notifications are also working for Windows & Android devices using the Lync 2013 client. Again, this works if the mobile app is open or forced closed on the mobile device.
The issue that we are experiencing is that push notifications are not working for iOS devices running the Lync 2013 client when the app if forced closed on the mobile device. After creating a case with MS and having them sign off on my topology configuration they informed me that the Lync 2013 iOS mobile client has to be left running in the background for these notifications to work. Apparently this is due to the fact that the iOS client does not use a push notification clearing house but instead Background VoIP socket to receive the notifications.
Are others experiencing this issue? I've been telling my users to keep the app running in the background but I think that's a terrible solution.
