So, I have run in to a problem with updates for the Lync client. I am not sure how I missed the line "Lync 2013 will be upgraded to Skype for Business" in the notes but I did. I usually check the resolved issues to see if we need the update or now. That said we usually pull down security updates and here lies the problem.
When we pull the security update MS15-044 from May12th, which uses the same "will be upgraded" line, our client does the whole dual run thing. Obviously, we have shut that off but the remaining issue is that the active icon is still the Skype symbol. As you can imagine, this move either intentional or unintentional does not work for all organizations.
Is this how MS intended the client to be updated or is mine bugged out? Can I return the Lync 2013 client to it's former glory without having to worry about MS upgrading for me?
We have made the registry changes and server changes listed in the article below.
I sincerely hope this isn't intentional, especially for security updates, and I hope I'm not the only one who doesn't want to upgrade at this very moment.
