Everyone,
I have gone through the lengthy process of setting up my Lync 2013 server, and now i'm wanting to set up/enable my organizations users to use it. I am new to the admin side of Lync, so I ask for your mercy/point in the right direction.
First off, we're a school district and our administration does not want our teachers to be able to freely chat. BUT, we need to be able to chat with our teaching staff from the helpdesk side to discuss / schedule maintenance on their computers. So , with that in mind, can you all point me in the right direction for the following:
1) How can I enable ALL users with an e-mail address automatically, including new users who are added...or do we have to create the mailbox and THEN enable them in Lync control panel? It would be great to be able to enable all mailboxes, and then any new mailbox created is automatically lync-enabled
2) IT department and administration staff needs to be able to talk to anyone and everyone, but the teachers can only talk to the IT department. What I was thinking was setting this up for security groups, example being MPS-Lync-Technology and MPS-Lync-AdminStaff both having FULL add privileges and can PM / screen share any and all users in the district. But, MPS-Lync-Staff only being able to talk to MPS-Lync-Technology and MPS-Lync-AdminStaff. Is this possible? I don't want them being able to talk to ANYONE else outside of our domain either (@magnoliaschools.net). Administration is afraid of them waisting time and "socializing"
3) Can we forcefully put each member of MPS-Lync-Staff into the contact list of any user from MPS-Lync-Technology ? This will be the place we go to for helpdesk/remote sessions and being able to real-time communicate with our users, but want to limit who they can talk to as well.
4) Our school's curriculum is teaching office 2010, so we're not deploying office 2013 yet. We're also using SCCM 2012 for software deployment. I plan on deploying the Lync 2013 client to every computer of everyone in each of the three security groups listed above. Is there a way to force Lync client to start on each user's computer and to make it sign them in automatically?
My end result/goal is to have Lync on every staff member's computer and be able to PM/Remote Control their PCs, but limit it where regular staff members cannot PM between each other...they can only PM members of the technology staff and adminstaff groups.
Is that too confusing / limiting?
ANY help on getting this going is greatly appreciated, I really appreciate your help
Thank you!
