Lync Mobile on iOS, Join as Guest on 4g Issue.

Perhaps this is by design, and I suspect it is.

The scenario is:  If on an iOS device I join a conference as a guest, but I'm using my 4g signal and am not on WiFi, I cannot see video or desktop sharing.  If I join as an authenticated user, I have options to allow for video/sharing over 4g, but I don't see these options as guest.

Am I missing the setting somewhere?  Or are there any workarounds or can anyone confirm what I'm seeing?

lync server 2010 migration to Lync 2013 Database Issue

Hello

I have a pervious post here for my issue but still the issue is not solved , I will post the issue again here ,

Im trying to migrate my lync 2010 to lync 2013 .

I start the  lync 2010 to 2013 migration , but I have a database issue ,

in my lync 2010 I have 3 servers (FE, ME, BE) , in the new 2013 I have 2 servers (FE ,BE )

I went throw the steps for migration till I reach to the topology builder where I have to create the database for lync2013 , I named it  (rtc , 2013mon,2013 arc)

I chose to put all the three DB in BE server . I installed the sql server 2012 on my BE server ,

I get this error when I try to finish the install of DB from topology builder
I try the command install cs-database , but again I got the error failed to find sql services make sure that the sql service instance name rtc is installed in the machine hq-lunc2013 -be

I disabled the firewall in both the front end and the back end server's , but still the issue .

there was errors during the sql server installation related to .net frame work , but I fixed the issue and I continue the sql server installation ..later on I can see the management studio and all the sql server service running .

do I need to create the database instance (rtc, 2013 mon , 2013 arc ) in the sql server manually ?

any other suggestion to solve the issue ?

the error I get :
SqlConnectionFailure: Failed to connect to SQL Server

Join Online Meeting Button in OWA

$

We have a multi tenant lync environment that we are trying to get the "Join Online Meeting" button to appear in Exchange 2013 SP1 OWA.

This appears to be almost an undocumented feature, but after following this guide, we have made some progress:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/jenstr/archive/2013/04/02/creating-lync-online-meetings-from-outlook-web-app-in-exchange-2013-cu1.aspx

The issue we are facing is that the button is still not showing, having looked at the OWA logs, Lync is returning this error when OWA tries to get the UcwaUserConfiguration:

The remote server returned an error: (403)
Forbidden.28062;source=""LN-LFE1.XX.XX"";reason=""The user''s tenant does not match the tenant from the OAuth token."";

Once again there is nothing out there on this that i can find other than a microsoft page that lists this error, with no explanation of solution or reason.

Any ideas?

Lync for Child Domain

Hello,

A previous admin setup Lync 2013 in our root level domain, however, it was recently brought to my attention that users in a child domain are unable to use it.  What's the best way to enable a child domain to work off of a root domain level Lync implementation?

Thanks

"LS Web Service" in SCOM 2012 R2 showing a problem.

I'm not exactly sure what is going on here or how to troubleshoot the issue.

I have 4 Lync 2013 FE servers all being monitored by SCOM 2012 R2.  When I go into the scom console and Lync 2013 Server Health, I see my 4 FE Servers.  Servers 1 & 2 are showing critical, while 3&4 are showing healthy.  If I scoll across it shows server 1 &2 as "LS Web Service" as being Critical while 3&4 are healthy.  If I drill down on servers 1&2 it shows as Address Book Users Correctly Indexed...Users are not indexed in the database that should be. Expected indexed user
count: 0 Actual indexed user count: 30051 Cause: User replication issue.
Resolution: Run Update-CsAddressBook to synchronize all accounts.

I've already run the above but nothing changes and continue to get these errors.  I've also run debug-csaddressbookreplication -poolfqdn "poolname".  The results show:
indexed object count 30122
objects not indexed that should be 0
Abandoned objects 0

Still not sure why the LS Web Service is showing critical for servers 1&2.

Deploying new Lync 2013 Edge to replace 2010 Edge. Options?

$

Here is my situation. All internal servers are 2013. I have one 2010 FE left also which is not being used. Only reason I am keeping it around is because our Edge is still 2010. I want to move the Edge services to 2013. I built out the server but haven't installed anything on it yet. I have some concerns about firewall ports/rules and connectivity. I can't really test from the new server because if Lync is not installed, it won't be advertising any ports. Is there a way to install Lync 2013 Edge services on the new server without causing any disruption to the existing environment? I really don't want to start the transition from the old Edge to the new Edge just yet. Just want to get the software installed and test all the ports through our firewall before I do my big bang switchover.

LYNC Pool Pairing Question

$

I’ve a scenario where there are two sites

Site A                   65% Users

Site B                    35% Users

I created two pools, one for each site.

Site A users and Site B users access LYNC services using their own Pool(SiteA-Pool01 & SiteB-Pool02)

All of the integration of services such as Audio/Video/UM/Apps etc happened at Site A(i.e.SiteA-Pool01 ) since all the necessary Audio/Video systems are at Site A.

How would Site B user ensure that all the integration is available to them?

Do I need to integrate these services at SiteB pool(SiteB-Pool02) as well (But necessary components are at site A)?

Which site pool simple URLs be pointing to ? And how do I ensure that Site A & B users access them with without issues?

and how does this act in a pool paired environment ?

Comodo Certificate

Hello,

I have Lync 2013 running on Windows Server 2012 R2.

It is fully patched and up to date.

I have one Front End Server and one Edge Server.

One of our Federated partners uses Comodo certs. He has exported them from his Edge Server, and I have imported them on mine. Both the 'trusted root' cert and the 'intermediate' cert.

I cannot ''Join a Lync Meeting" from within Outlook, and sharing apps, powerpoint, the whiteboard, etc, does not work.

Do I need to restart the Edge Server?

Anyone have any suggestions dealing with Comodo?

Thanks everyone,

Candee
