AD Preparation

$

Hi Folks,

I newly joined to this community and like to install Lync 2013 in my infra in order to test and check how it works. I have windows 2003 R2 AD primary and secondary servers too. I have installed all features and roles as per the step by step guide.

In the initial AD preparation it says " failure occurred while attempting to check schema state. Please check AD is reachable" .

* I ping to both AD servers - working

* DNS name resolving without an issue

* AD DS and AD SL are installed

I really want to know windows 2003 AD support and compatible to install Lync.

Hello,

After trying to set up Lync 2013 for external setup, it displays wrong autodiscover  address

instead lync.old.com it should display lync.domain.com.  I cant find any resource how to change that.

Having issues with Lync meetings with external partners

$

This is basically a new concept for us because Lync was used mostly for internal use. The last couple of times we tried to have a meeting with a non-Federated partner like a reseller giving a demo, they would send us a Lync invite and when I try to connect to the meeting by clicking the Lync invite in the email, my locally installed Lync 2013 client opens a window and I hear a series of beeps, about 20-30 like its trying to connect. It makes a connection for a few seconds (I enter the virtual lobby) and then it disconnects.

This has happened with two different corporations, one of them being Microsoft. The companies are not Federated with us so I guess the questions are this:

Does the company have to be Federated with us just to have a meeting?

Should I enable partner domain discovery under Access Edge Configuration in Control Panel? (Seems like this is something you don't want)

I have Centralized logging running and I extracted the logs for the time the meeting was trying to start. I used Snooper to review the logs.

I am seeing two errors which are below:

SIP/2.0 403 Forbidden

ms-diagnostics: 1027;reason="Cannot route this type of SIP request to or from federated partners";source="sip-edge.ourdomain.com" (the source is our Edge)

SIP/2.0 504 Server Time-out

ms-diagnostics: 1017;reason="Cannot route From and To domains in this combination";summary="Cannot route between the source and destination domains because partner discovery is not enabled";external-domain="theirdomain.com";external-type="domain-type-remote";internal-domain="ourdomain.org";internal-type="domain-type-local";source="sip-edge.ourdomain.com"

504 is a bit confusing because it implies that you have to be Federated with a partner just to have a meeting.

I ran the lync powershell as below:

Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -DisableEmailComparisonCheck $true

1. lync sip domain is different with smtp address. -> lync client will show ews not deploy.

2. added sip domain to email smtp address and lync client sometimes will show ews is ok sometime will show ews not deply.

Any idea? if client only using IM feature and lync conference ,outlook  lync meeting features. ews is not big impact on the IM, conference , outlook meeting?

OWA Integration not working with Exchange 2013 and Lync 2013 (with UCS enabled)

$

Hi guys,

I have a system landscape that was migrated from Windows 2008 R2 (as AD) with Exchange 2010 and existing Lync 2013 Installation. Lync Integration with OWA was working fine in that configuration.

After the AD was migrated to Windows 2012 R2 and Exchange was migrated to 2013, there are some problems with OWA Integration for users hat have UCS enabled (that is my guess). All Systems are installed in german language.

For testing I created a new user in AD, Exchange and Lync and I can use Lync in OWA without any problems.
But when I log in to Lync Rich-Client with that user, after a few minutes I got logged off and on again (because there were some changes in my contact list; the UCS enablement, I guess) -> after that the Default Contact Group in Lync is named "Other contacts" (was "Andere Kontakte" before) and I cannot login for Lync with that user in OWA anymore (this is reproducible; delete user from Lync, delete contact list in Outlook, try again).

However I can still login with users that have never used Lync 2013 Rich-Client (i.e. Domain-Administrator), so it is not a General Lync-OWA-Integration problem.

I did some testing, but I am not able to find a solution.

When I enable UCMA-Tracing with OCSTracer I get the following error message:

(sorry, don't know how to get the output in english)

However I also get the above error 480 also for the Domain Administrator user (which has never started Lync 2013 and should not have UCS enabled?).

Any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance!

First question is am I supposed to select "Local domain" or enter the Domain FQDN of the domain that the Front End server is a member of?

2nd is When running the Prepare Current Forest task and selecting Local domain I'm receiving error:

Prepare Forest Active Directory settings execution failed on an unrecoverable error.

Creating new log file "c:\users\........

Warning: Enable-CSAdForest failed.

Command execution failed: Value cannot be null.

Again I'm not sure if I'm supposed to select Local domain or enter the FQDN of the domain that the server is a member of...

Hi All,

I have a problem on my Lync Server 2013, when my internal or external users try to join the meeting using lync web app because they do not have any lync client installed,

When they try to click on Join using lync web app instead it redirects them to the local lync server url and the IE shows page can not be displayed, I m not sure what is wrong and why it redirects me to the local lync server url instead of external one.

I have a single user (which happens to be the only user that need access mind you) who has been added as a member of the CSUserAdministrator group but unable to access CSSP. I have tested on existing users and new test users and it works fine, just not for this one user.

I reference post

http://www.networksteve.com/windows/topic.php/Access_Denied_opening_Lync_administration_control_panel/?TopicId=61884&Posts=0 however rebooting has not helped....of course

nltest and dcdiag shows no errors

I have also tried crating a New-CsAdminrole copying CSUserAdministrator, I have also added this user as a domain administrator and they are able to logon directly to our Lync Server.

Our Lync deployment is ok, no errors, all functions work and I have run ADprep and ForestPrep as part of the build. Lync Server Deployment Wizard shows all ticks etc

Any ideas?

Can't paste image into group chats.

Howdy,

If I'm chatting one on one with someone via Lync, we can paste image into the chat window inline with no problem.  However, if I start a group chat with 2 people, then when I try to paste in an image I get an error that: "inline image and file input are disabled".

Can anyone help me identify where this setting lives and if it can be changed?

Thanks.

Lync 2010 Mobility Co-existence with Lync 2013 Enterprise Pool

Hello,

I am trying to deploy the co-existence scenario for my client between Lync 2010 & Lync 2013.

Now, They are very reluctant in using new Public certificate for external web servcies for Lync 2013. Can we point the Lync 2010 External web services to Lync 2013 Front end pool in reverse proxy and keep Lyncdiscover.domain.com to Lync 2010 pool.

OR

Change Lyncdiscover.domain.com to Lync 2013 pool & External web services to Lync 2013 pool and will the Lync 2013 redirect for user in Lync 2010 for Mobility,

We have pure Lync 2010 Clients

I have already gone through the previous threads regarding the same topic that is not solving the purpose.

 A Quick help would be appreciated.!!!

Getting Lync enable users who are modified after specified time

Hi,

I need to get all the Lync enabled users from Lync 2010 server who are modified after specified time.

I have written a client with this below code for my purpose

string
dateString = "11/4/2014 11:19:10 PM";

DateTime
lastModifiedTime = DateTime.Parse(dateString, System.Globalization.CultureInfo.InvariantCulture);

PSCommand command = new PSCommand();

command.AddCommand("Get-CsUser");

command.AddParameter("Filter","WhenChanged -gt " + lastModifiedTime.ToString());

powershell.Commands
= command;

Collection<PSObject> outPut = powershell.Invoke();

But on calling Invoke method I am getting the below exception,

Cannot bind parameter 'Filter' to the target. Exception setting "Filter": "Invalid cast problem for value: "11" type: "System.Nullable`1[System.DateTime]" query: "WhenChanged -gt 11/4/2014 11:19:10 PM" "17""

Can anyone please point me what am I doing wrong.

This command

Get-CsUser -filter {whenchanged -gt"11/4/2014 11:19:10 PM"}

when run directly on Windows Powershell works fine.

Thanks in advance.

Sandeep
