I am moving CAC functionality from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013. I am successfully assign the CAC functionality to Lync Server 2013 Enterprise Edition Front End pool and publish the topology.

However, when executing bootstrap.exe (via deployment wizard OR command line), it fails with following error:

The exact logfile error occurs when bootstraper is executing uninstalling unused roles. In my case there are none.

I also get following error when try to execute the Enable-CsComputer cmdlet -

Lync Mobility Coexistance

Im just looking for a sanity check really. Im upgrading our Lync 2010 to 2013 and we are doing a phased migration.

Im having an issue where Lync mobility is not working for both 2010 and 2013 users (just 2013)

I have 2 separate urls for Web Services lync2010.domain.com for the 2010 pool and lync2013.domain.com for the 2013 pool.

I have moved lyncdiscover, meeting etc to the new Lync 2013 pool so when I goto lyncdiscover.domain.com it shows lync2013.domain.com. All are pointing to the same external IP address.

When I try to connect a Lync 2010 user using the 2010 client it fails. Using the Lync connectivity tool I get the error "Reached maximum redirections for 10". Now Im guessing this is happening because Im using the same IP address because when I point Lync2010.domain.com to the Lync 2010 pool it all works with no issue.

Am I right with my config?

Lync 2013 Mobile additional SIP domain

Hey team

Having trouble with an additional SIP domain and the mobile client.

I've had the certificates updated with the additional SIP domain on the Front end, edge and reverse proxy. The desktop lync client works with the additional sip domain so it just seems to be an issue with mobility. All additional DNS records have been created.

With the original SIP domain the simple URL's are setup correctly and mobility works fine. On the reverse proxy i'm using ARR and have created the additional simple URL's and rewrites for the additional sip domain.

Testing with Microsoft Lync Connectivity Analyzer passes all external and internal tests for the Lync Mobile 2013 App.

Anyone have any tips with getting an additional SIP domain working through the ARR reverse proxy?

Thanks

In a paired SE FE server config, does each SE FE have the same external web services FQDN or separate external web services FQDN?

Polycom VVX500/600 Lync Phone Edition

We have several CX* working with no issue, but we cannot sign into the VVX500/600 phones.

When I look at the Device Update page, only the CX* devices are listed for model.  Does that mean I need to upload the software to Lync in order for the phones to register and users sign in?

If not, we are using PIN authentication and it's failing with a message just stating "Lync Sign in failed"

Ideas?

Groups not visible in GAL

Hi All,

We are in co-existence with OCS 2007 R2 and Lync 2013. The security groups are visible in the users who are still located at OCS pool and using OCS client, but not users who are moved to Lync 213 and using Lync 2013 client and OCS 2007 R2 pool users and using Lycn 2013 client. Both the files GalContacts.db and GalContacts.db.idx are not seen among the uses who use Lync 2013 clients.

Which server generated the address book OCS FE or Lync 2013 FE during the co-existence? How to configure Lync 2013 FE to generate the Addressbook.

Regards,

Swamy

Is a full server backup needed?

I'm following the backup procedures found here for my Lync 2013 Enterprise environment - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh202168.aspx.  Is it necessary to do full server backups, or do I just rebuild a failed frontend server from scratch?

Anyone tried upgrading to Skype for Business Server yet?

Has anyone tried to upgrade their Lync 2013 server yet?

I've attempted it but keep running into schema issues. However if I check the schema on Lync 2013 it shows that it is fine but the Skype for Business is always throwing errors when trying to following the in-place upgrade steps:

LC_FORESTSSETTINGS_STATE_NOREADY

But Lync 2013 says it is.

Skype For Business Forest Prep Error

Hi,

I know this is not the correct section for this post, but MS don't appear to have added SFB onto tech net yet!

So we are trying to prepare our schema for SFB. Step 1 has completed ok, but we are getting an error when trying to complete the forest prep:

Command execution failed: The schema is not ready. Cannot continue

We have taken a look at the detailed log, and the server schema version is ok, its the service schema that has the SCHEMA_VERSION_STATE_INVALID error. Its version is 1550 / 11

Having taken a look at the install media for SFB under the Support/Schema folder. We have noted that there is no ServiceSchema.ldf file present, so it would seem that the installer has not touched the service schema at all.

Any ideas?

Migrating from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013.. What DNS names require changing?

$

I have an existing Lync 2010 Enterprise pool set up. I am looking to deploy a Lync 2013 Standard pool and migrate our users to it with as little service interruption as possible. The only part I'm caught up on is choosing DNS names for the new 2013 pool and services. I know the pool and server name must be different, but can I keep the same names for:

Internal/External web services URL's?
Access Edge (sip.domain.com), webconf, meeting and dialin URL's?

If I can keep the same names it would make it easier regarding certificates, but I assume I would need to schedule downtime to migrate all users to the new pool and then update DNS records to point to the IP addresses of the Lync 2013 servers?

Would it be easier to just use new names and get a new public cert?

Lync 2013 Silent Uninstall via script

We have rolled out a pilot of Lync 2013 and need to remove it, in advance of installing Office 2013 with Lync in it. There is an UninstallString in the uninstall registry key that should uninstall it, however, when I try that, it errors out. the uninstall script from the registry is this:

MsiExec.exe /X{90150000-012C-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

and when I run that, there's 2 entries in the log file:

DEBUG: Error 2746:  Transform 90012D0000000015.0.4420.1017 invalid for package C:\windows\Installer\95f30.msi. Expected product {90150000-012D-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}, found product {90150000-012C-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}.

DEBUG: Error 2746:  Transform 90012E0000000015.0.4420.1017 invalid for package C:\windows\Installer\95f30.msi. Expected product {90150000-012E-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}, found product {90150000-012C-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}.

And at the end of the log is:

CustomAction DcaRemoveSpawn returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 11:12:13: DcaRemoveSpawn. Return value 3.
Action ended 11:12:13: INSTALL. Return value 3.

and it doesn't uninstall. Sure, it uninstalls from Add/Remove, but that's not really an option.

We're having the same issue with Office 2013 - the UninstallString in the registry doesn't work and throws the same error.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Upgrade to skype for business server

Good day. During the update server Lync Server 2013 Standart to skype for business server, a problem at the stage of "Removing the local management services," namely, fails ocscore.msi. This step removes the main components and all updates, I have an error, removal does not occur. I decided to remove all the updates hands, half is removed successfully, but to upgrade kb2835432 (5.0.8308.420) error "installed product does not match the installation source." In other words, I do something with the file ocscore.msi this particular version.

I can not find online archive with the updated version 5.0.8308.420, all references are to the latest updates. The window with the error and asks to specify the correct file if it specify the file from the last update, or from the disk with the distribution server, it does not work, it is still a error.

Perhaps there is still some way to remove this update? Or someone can suggest a link to the archive with the old upgrade?

Issues with changing sip address type

$

Hi,

In our organization we have all people's "sipaddresstype" = samaccountname. I want to change it to email address. Using powershell I may change it that way:

Enable-CsUser -Identity "Name Surname" -SipAddressType EmailAddress

However, on client side user log outs automatically and can't connect till he deletes sign in info. So it seems like the only way is to manually delete sign in info, exit lync client, and start it again. After that user may successfully login.

How to bulk change sipaddresstypes more transparent to users?

CDR and QoE databases are missing rows in Lync reports

Hi,

When you click the dashboard view on the Lync 2013 reporting server you get the following errors:

Report processing stopped because too many rows in summary tables are missing in the call detail recording (CDR) database. To resolve this issue, run dbo.RtcGenerateSummaryTables on the LcsCDR database.
Report processing stopped because too many rows in summary tables are missing in the Quality of Experience (QoE) database. To resolve this issue, run dbo.RtcGenerateSummaryTables on the QoEMetrics database.

The error message contains the solution as well, and it is working. The question is, why this problem appears, as it is coming again after several weeks/months. And how to avoid it for the future?
