Exchange 2013 UM auto attendant to Skype for business server 2015 response groups failing

$

Hi All,

I have just upgraded Lync server 2013 to Skype for Business 2015 and now when trying to dial response groups through my UM auto attendant they fail with "The call cannot be transferred, returning to the main menu... The call cannot be transferred, returning to the main menu" and then the phone call cuts out.

Calls to the response groups directly from an internal phone work fine. It's just when trying to call from outside.

Where can i start to troubleshoot this?

Many thanks,
Seb

EDIT:

It seems like it's not able to recognise the extension, if i dial an extension that i know doesnt exist (like 9999) i get the same error in the logs.

If i dial 5052 i get straight through to a person, but if i dial 5050 which is set up as a response group it fails.

EDIT 2:

I have checked that the cert assigned to UM and UMCallRouter has the correct subject name.

I have also checked that refer support is set to none.

How many certificates should I buy for Lync 2013?

$

Users connect to Lync internaly, externaly and using VPN.

So I need to buy one cert for external connections and another for internal. VPN users work with internal certificates and get errors on thier home workstations untill internal ca cert is installed.

And I can't use one certificate for both because Lync does not allow it.

Why MS can not normaly support wildcard certs? When Exchange can work with them (not without errors) Lync makes me buy tons of different certs... These tricks with dozens of DNS names, certs and ip addressess for Lync is not a good idia.

Lync VDI Plugin pairing problems from a Windows 7 machine to Session Host 2012

$

Hello,

I've been suggested to post this question here in Lync forums, so here it goes:

I'm hoping someone can shed a light here with a problem we're having with the Lync VDI Plugin. A Lync client 2013 installed on a RD Session Host won't pair with the Lync VDI plugin installed on a Windows 7 local PC.

We have deployed a Session Virtualization scenario on the following Servers:

- RD Session Host (Windows Server 2012): this is a virtual Hyper-V machine where we have installed Office 2013 and Lync client 2013 - 32 bits. The Lync client version is 15.0.4420.1017.
- RD Connection Broker (Windows Server 2012): virtual Hyper-V machine
- RD Web Access (Windows Server 2012): virtual Hyper-V machine

Also:
- We have Lync Server 2013 on another Server.
- We have User Profile Disk enabled.

The description for our local PC is:

- Windows 7 SP1 32 bits
- Office 2010 32 bits (Lync Client 2010 was uninstalled)
- Lync VDI Plugin 32 bits: We deployed it following every step detailed here
- Polycom CX300 USB phone
- RDP 8.0 Update: Every prerequisite for the Lync VDI Plugin was installed, applied and double checked, as mentioned here. This means we installed the DTLS udpate, the RDP 8.0 update, we enabled RDP 8.0 on the Local Group Policy Editor, and verified it with connection quality button. We also have ensured that EnableMediaRedirection is set to TRUE for all VDI users on our Lync 2013 Server.

THE PROBLEM: When the user access the RD Session Host, Lync 2013 starts but the pairing process with the Lync VDI Plugin never ends. The Lync status bar shows no red "x" or green check, it just keeps on trying and if you click it it says something like "Lync is trying to use your local audio and video devices". The Lync settings for Audio Devices => "Speaker" shows "Remote Audio" and the same for "microphone". We tried the troubleshooting instructions here with no success.

Some things to have in mind:
- This happens only with Windows 7 on local PCs. When we connect to the Session Host with a Windows 8 local PC, the Lync VDI pairing process works just fine!! (green check on the status bar). The Polycom phone is instantly recognized and audio calls are smooth. This tells us that our servers configuration should be correct.
- The local PCs connect through the Web Access server's web interface, in other words through the Connection Broker.

Please, your help will be greatly appreciated. As far as we know Windows 7 SP1 is supported when using a Lync phone on virtual sessions.

Regards,

Mc

Lync certificate errors on internal network

$

I am confused about one thing in particular while trying to deploy Lync Server 2013.  I have a "basic" environment of 1x FE, 1x Edge, 1x Reverse Proxy.  Internal domain is "contoso.net", external is "contoso.com".

Externally, I have a public UCC with the same DNS names (meet.contoso.com, dialin.contoso.com, etc) pointing towards the Reverse Proxy.  External DNS records allow me secure access and I can connect to the domains externally without problems.

I have an Enterprise CA certificate assigned to my FE server.  Internally, I have meet.contoso.com, dialin.contoso.com, records pointing to my FE server.  They all receive a certificate error as my Enterprise cert cannot authoratively secure the"contoso.com" domains.  Is there a way to apply my Public CA to my internal connections to my FE server so that those connections can be appropriately secured?

Lync 2013 VDI local client with Lync 2013 Client on the remote server running Server 2012 R2

I've reviewed all the Lync 2013 VDI documentation, and understand that the target RDS shows as Server 2008 R2, though found a great video fromDesmond Lee on Lync 2013 VDI, and it looks as if Server 2012 is supported. It's been some time, though does anyone know if Server 2012 R2 is supported on the RDS for the VMs?

Thanks,

WARNING - Skype for Business Server 2015 has a normalization/matching bug - problem for those with Exchange Auto Attendants

$
0
0

MS support has confirmed a bug in SfB that prevents proper normalization and matching on transfers from Exchange Auto Attendants.  Still working the case but wanted to warn others using Sip trunks so they hopefully avoid jumping into this problem.

If you have Exchange auto attendants (ours are Exchange 2013) and use menu navigation to transfer to SfB users and/or response groups, the SfB front end doesn't properly normalize and match numbers.  This causes calls that previously were matched and properly routed internally under Lync 2013 server to instead be passed back out to the sip trunk provider (that is, assuming you have a route set up for either Site or Global voice policies - if you only have user policies and don't have a user policy assigned to your ExUM contact for the AA, the transfer will just fail altogether with the "blind" transfer event log error).

Assuming that your users have publicly routable DIDs, then having a Global or Site voice policy with a route will allow AA transfers to such users to succeed, since the number will pass back out to the sip trunk provider and return right back to SfB and get routed (the normalization bug only appears to hit calls from AAs).

If however, like us, your response groups use fake numbers that only route internally (+12345556789 for example), these transfers will still fail because the sip trunk provider won't recognize the number and will 404 the call.

We are still working with support on figuring out:

1) a workaround for the RG issue - granting a voice policy and/or dial plan to the ExUM contact and RG object does not help

2) what it is that causes the SfB front end to behave differently than Lync 2013 frontends and fail to normalize and thus match the internal numbers

Will update as we learn more.

Lync white screen

I have been trying to resolve an issue for a user on Windows 7 x64, who gets the dreaded White Screen when trying to join a Lync session.  I have looked around this forum, and keep seeing

Delete this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} .  That key does not exist on his machine.

I have updated his video card drivers from HP.  Resetting IE to defaults worked once, but the second time, it would not work.  Even going back in and resetting IE again did not work.

He has Office 2007 if that matters.

Any help is appreciated.

Skype For Business 2015 Server - Management pack for SCOM (System Center Operations Manager)

$

Hey!

We recently updated our Lync 2013 Servers to Skype For Business Server 2015, after that the monitoring from SCOM stopped working. So I was looking for the new Skype For Business Management Pack but I can't seem to find it.

The only information I find about it, is this:

"

System Center Operations Manager is recommended.  We recommend that you monitor the health of your Skype for Business Server deployment to help ensure service availability for end-users. You can use the System Center Operations Manager Management Pack for Skype for Business that is available as a free download from Microsoft. With the Skype for Business Management Pack, you can proactively get real-time alerts when issues occur, run synthetic transactions to test end-to-end Skype for Business functionality, get reports for service availability, and so on.  This helps you to proactively respond to issues with your deployment before end-users experience them.

"

I have searched all around Microsoft Download Center, but I can't seem to find it.

Have somebody else located it, or maybe have some information about the release of it?

Thank you for your time!

Lync 2013 --> Skype 2015, Archiving issue

$

I'm in the middle of a Lync 2013 to Skype 2015 migration, doing this side by side  rather than the in place upgrade method. There is next to no information available for this method, so it's a combination of my own knowledge/experience along with some resources on 2010 > 2013 migration, and pool migration within 2013.

I've stood up the S4B 2015 server and added it to the topology, have configured monitoring & archiving, migrated some pilot users, moved across some trusted applications (Exchange OAuth, IM within OWA, Polycom) and the majority is working well. My internal SRV for lync is still pointed at the 2013 servers, and I am still running the 2013 edge server.

I am however seeing an issue with archiving. The 2015 pool (standard) is configured with a collocated archiving store which is defined in the topology. At present all archiving, including for users now on the Skype pool, is being logged to the Lync 2013 archiving store. Monitoring however is split as I would have expected, 2015 to 2015 monitoring DB and 2013 to 2013 monitoring DB. Is this to be expected since both pools are within the same site? At what point and how can I go about migrating this properly, such that 2015 users are archived to the 2015 archiving database? Will this simply happen once I have migrated all users and removed archiving/monitoring from 2013? Is it in some way tied to the "login" server, i.e. will happen once I point the SRV at the S4B front end? Perhaps tied to edge server version a reason I can't even fathom?

Thanks for any insight offered.

required cert names for separate edge pools

Hi all, we have two datacenters each with their own SfB pool and edge pool.

Currently our SRV records point to sipeast.domain.com and sipwest.domain.com

We do have sip.domain.com on our cert, but I realized that it does not actually exist in DNS, nor is it referenced by any SRV records.  Our CX phones work just fine in this configuration.  As our cert renewal is coming due, I’m trying to figure out if I need to keep the sip.domain.com name on it.

How about in the same situation, but with multiple sip domains?  Do we need to have sip.domain2.com, sip.domain3.com etc on the cert?

Thanks!

Reverse proxy for Lync 2013 Multitenant Hosting Pack

$

Experts,

IN Lync Server 2013 Multitenant Hosting Pack, do i have to have reverse proxy for front-end servers ? or all connections handled by edge?

Microsoft say

1.1   Lync Server Multitenant Hosting Pack Server Roles

Edge Servers act as the first point of contact for requests coming from clients, federated traffic, and media in a hosted deployment.

In a Lync Server Multitenant Hosting Pack deployment, incoming requests from tenant users go through a proxy on the Edge Servers and are redirected to the appropriate Front End pool.

For the reference architectures included in this guide, all other server roles are the same as the roles for Lync Server 2013. For details, see “Server Roles” in the TechNet Library at

Lync online to lync on-premise

If the user want to test the on-premise and enable enterprise voice with Exchange UM online.

How to minimize the effort to Lync online user? Dir Sync and ADFS server is running for Office 365.

If I point the Lync discover and sip.domain.com srv record to lync on-premise  , there have down time on Lync online user?

They want to separate the Lync on-premise with lync online and no impact to Lync online users with parallel run on lync on-promise.

I have to test the edge server is running normal before point to DNS back to on-primise server?

i can't find many information about this hybrid mode reference.

Thanks.

SEFAUtil doesn't work before user's 1st login to Lync client

I'm trying to change forwarding settings for new users with SEFAUtil. However, it doesn't work for users who never logged in before to their account using Lync client. After they have logged in, the SEFAUtil works as it should. The exception from SEFAUtil is:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.   at SEFAUtil.RoutingPreamble.AddFlag(String flag)   at SEFAUtil.RoutingPreamble.set_EnableCF(Boolean value)   at SEFAUtil.SefaTool.Execute()

Is there a way how to prevent this or how to simulate the first login?

Thanks

port redirection from 443 to 4443 is not working on IIS-ARR

We have configured IIS-ARR as reverse proxy for Lync 2013 urls, meet.contoso.com, Lyncdiscover.contoso.com, Southlyncweb.contoso.com and wacsouth.contoso.com.

All the URLs accept the connections on port 443 and 3 URLs meet.contoso.com, Lyncdiscover.contoso.com, Southlyncweb.contoso.com redirect the request to External-web-services-HLB of FE on port 4443 and wacsouth.contoso.com doesn’t need port redirection, it just passes the request to HLB of web app server, which is working fine. The issue is only with meet.contoso.com, Lyncdiscover.contoso.com, Southlyncweb.contoso.com.

We have configured all the perquisites, created webform, ARR application request routing and url rewrite rules.
