Skype for Business 2015

Hello everyone!

We are new to Skype for Business 2015 and are wondering how some people accomplish things. We used an instant message program known as Effusia Business prior to moving to Skype for Business, it had built into it offline messaging and the ability to print from it. The company that owned that product is no longer in business and we were starting to run into some issues with it, we found Skype for Business to be the most similar solution out there, and liked some of the other features it has. I am wondering if there is a road map of what new features may be coming in updates to Skype for Business or if there is any way to do person to person offline messaging with an on premise solution. We do use Persistent Chat as a work around for it now, but are running into issues where we would almost need to setup person to person chat rooms for everyone in the company. Anyone out there have any tips or trick to how we could accomplish things a little more efficiently? Thank you!!

Lync mixed topology, Skype for Business migration

We have a customer in a mixed Lync 2010 / 2013 topology and want to deploy Skype for business. Lync CMS was not migrated to Lync 2013 and all simple URLs and CMS still point / reside to Lync 2010 FE. They have "decommissioned" Lync 2013 as it was considered a "pilot" and never went to full production, but they did not remove lync 2013 from the topology.

  • What would be the best approach to get them to Skype for business and is there any caveats we need to be cognisant of before proceeding?
  • We have to remove all Lync 2013 components from the topology. But since the topology is now lync 2013, don't we have to manage this with lync 2013 topology builder?

Thanks

Status: 404 Not Found Server: RTC/5.0 FQDN: LEDGEOPP01.domain.com

this only working in chrome and firefox, IE just gives 404 error

why it gives domain name? I really dont want anyone to know internal domain name so easy, how can I remove it?

Hi guys.

Two standard front end Lync servers in pool pairing.

Two edge servers in one edge pool.

Problem:
Lync VOIP Works inside LAN, it Works also if the Lync-PC client connects to VPN (so basically similiar as LAN scenario), but Lync VOIP callin not working if client connects to Lync EDGE servers.

We have done some wireshark traces and send them to our SIP-Trunk provider and we have recieved information from them that problem is caused on our side. Provider saids they don't get any RTP from us.

Can anyone please explain where to look for the root of this problem?

Lync on-prem and Exchange Online UM - voice mail destination is not trusted for routing

$

Good day!

We use Lync 2013 on-prem: EE, Edge, PC, PSTN GW and Exhcnage 2013 Hybrid.

Exchange on-prem users use UM.

Everything works fine, no problems.

Now we need to configure Lync on-prem with Exchange Online UM.

We created new cshosted provider Exchange Online - success.

But when we try to create new hosted voicemail policy - we got an error:

New-CsHostedVoicemailPolicy -Identity o365UM -Destination exap.um.outlook.com -Description "o365 voicemail" -Organization "myorg.onmicrosoft.com"

New-CsHostedVoicemailPolicy : Hosted voice  mail destination "exap.um.outlook.com" is not trusted for routing.

We check Get-AcceptedDomain in Exch and in Exch Online - myorg.onmicrosoft.com is Authorative in both places.

May you help me with voicemail policy - how to fix this error ? (how to add exap.um.outlook.com to the trusted).

Thanks'.

Can connect to, but can't retrieve A/S information on Mobile Devices

Hey Technet forums!

I wanted to create a quick TechNet question as I'm pretty stumped with an issue I'm having getting mobile devices to retrieve ActiveSync information from my Exchange server, but I'm noticing that the devices are connecting to, and getting basic responses from the server.

As a bit of background, I recently stood up a new lab-instance Exchange server with Client Access and mailbox roles after an older Exchange server I had was decommissioned (deleted and removed from ADSI/AD). The server itself appears to work fine. I am able to log into the Exchange server (OWA and ECP) with my AD credentials without any issues, and from there all Exchange tasks (sending/receiving email) appear to work fine as well. It's when I try to push this information to a mobile phone (Both iOS and Android OS's) that I see issues. When configuring my Exchange account on my mobile device, I'll notice that when entering the correct information, I'll receive 'Ok' prompts in the form of checks next to the server fields. If I proceed into the Mail app or try to gather other ActiveSync information, I will not be able to receive or send email. From there, when configuring the setup with an incorrect password or value for a field for instance, I will be alerted to that as well, prompting me that my AD credentials were incorrect or disallowing me to continue. Having these together leads me to believe that my phone can connect to the server and at the least receive responses, but the server is either refusing the connection, or there is a permission that I have not yet enabled.

As for any rules in ECP, I do not have any devices or users quarantined so that would rule that out. My default rule for ActiveSync is to allow any and all devices across the board as well. For authentication, I'm relying on just basic authentication (User Name & Passcode)

I've also attached a few snippets of code that I have from an email log of an Android device attempting to connect to the Exchange server. In particular, I'm noticing that I'm getting both 'Ok' messages as well as some error messages here. My question is, are these errors telling at all? From my research, it seems like the suggestion I've found here (Error code 111) is to simply try later. Please note, this error log has been stripped of other non-relevant information (such as MDM information) it can be reattached if it may help.

2015-08-06T19:21:35.362+0000: SEVERE: Exchange : Generic error for operation FolderSync: status 200, result -10

Additionally, I'm noticing that it seems like the devices are never registered on the ActiveSync server as well. When running the Get-MobileDevices command in PS on my Exchange server, I'm noticing that none of the devices I'm trying to connect are populating.

If there's any questions or requests for information, I will definitely provide that ASAP.

Thanks again Technet!

In the Site Resiliency using pool pairing on Lync 2013, do the Archiving data also synchronized across the sites ?

If we are using SQL single instance for archiving.

How we can replicate the archive across the sites ?

Enabling Skype for Business Online user without decomissioning on-premises OCS

Is it possible to enable some OCS user in Skype for Business Online by deleting them in Onpremises OCS. what would be required, a separate SIP domain for Office 365 ?

We need to gradually move user to Office 365 and do not want to impact all users at once by decommissioning OCS in onpremises.

Recently i deployed skype for business 2015 server in my environment. All features works fine(chatting,Video,Presentation). Only issue is not able to connect exchange ews services. Its keep on prompting for password, not accepting.

My Environment:- Exchange server 2013 Enterprise, skype for business 2013 standard.

Below things i checked for troubleshooting but not worked:-

1) My internal and external domain are different.(created SRV record in internal domain for autodiscover, not worked, afterthat i removed srv record).

2) checked autodiscover link in user machine and client server(Its asking for credentials, after entering it showing xml page).

3) EWS and autodiscover virtual directory authentication checked.

Current authentication settings:-

Autodiscover = Integrated and basic

EWS ==  Integrated only. (for testing i enabled basic nd integrated but that also not worked.)

please advice on this above issue..

Lync 2013 Audio / Video Issues

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 running on a Lenovo T430.  I have problems with it seeing Audio / Video devices. When I go in to Tools > Options > Audio Options or Video Options I get a message "We didn't find an audio device, which you need for calling". I get the same for Video.

If I use Lync 2010 it works fine! I've checked the audio endpoint service is running.

Thanks

Migrate lync user with Exch UM on prem to the o365 UM error that Mailbox policy in the source forest couldn't be mapped to the target forest

$

Good day!

We use Exchange 2013 Hybrid and had configured Lync 2013 on-premises with Office 365 UM. We used an article by Ioav (here).

Now we try to migrate test user to o365.

Test user is Exchange on-premises UM enabled and granted to hosted voicemail policy on Lync level.

We had set up a license for him in o365.

But in process of migration we got an error:
Mailbox 'testuser' in the source forest is currently enabled for Unified Messaging but it can't be enabled for Unified Messaging in the target forest for the following reason: The UM mailbox policy assigned to the mailbox in the source forest couldn't be mapped to a UM mailbox policy in the target forest. The source forest policy name wasn't found in the SourceForestPolicyNames attribute of any UM mailbox policy in the target forest. Please fix the problem or disable the mailbox for Unified Messaging before you try the operation again

We fixed it and now we have:
on-premises:
Get-UMMailbox testuser | Fl UMMailboxPolicy
UMMailboxPolicy : LyncOnPremDialPlanPolicy

on cloud:
Get-UMMailboxPolicy | Fl SourceForestPolicyNames
SourceForestPolicyNames : {o365UM,LyncOnPremDialPlanPolicy}

where o365UM is a lync hosted voice mail policy which was created in process of Lync configuration.

But the same error still exists!

How should we fix it ? (what/where else setup should be done?)

Thx.

Lync integration with Tech Tools

Hey There,

Has anyone done any type of lync integration with tech tools likeJira, Jenkins, Datadog etc? It's pretty easy to do integration using Hipchat or Slack but there doesn't seem to be anything straight forward with Lync......!

I could find one paid connector for Lync and Jira integration but I really want to know how to go about any third party (specifically tech tools) integration using Lync?

I’ll appreciate if you could share your thoughts.

Strange things happend to my response groups

$

Hi there,

we used a lync2010 deployment and are now migrating step by step to lync 2013 standard. I moved all the users, no issues. Now I moved all response groups and that gives me a huge headache. At first all seemed fine ... we got several phone extensions, such as"0", "33" and "45". I see my migrated workflows, queues and groups side by side to the old one.

But if I dial e.g. "0", I can only hear the music that is configured for "on hold" and get forwarded after 15 seconds (as configured). It doesn't ring the primary group. When it rings the secondary group (in this case 45) not all members are "ringing".

The extension "45" seems to dial directly the configured group, but again - not all members.

Our most important extension is the "0" ...

Currently I try to create a new group and a blank workflow ... for testing purposes.

What may be wrong here?

Regards
Marcel

Testing Steps for Lync Server 2013

Hello All.........I want to test my environment for Lync 2013 feature set. Besides Enterprise Voice, Office Web App, Federation, PIC and Archiving, I have the rest of the feature set. Now, when things are ready, I want to test it operational side of things such as creating a meeting request, joining, using outlook or lync scheduler, doing IM, Audio, Video, Multiparty, etc. Would there be any guide available which I can use to test out the operational side of lync 2013 from end users perspective?
