Adding Monitoring server role to Lync 2013 Enterprise Edition

Hello everyone 

Im trying to add Monitoring server role to Lync 2013 Enterprise Edition FE pools.

I followed  the technet documents and i selected the monitoring  server in the topology builder.
Created a SRS instance and seperate DB successfully.
Then ran the deployment wizard selected the target DB's SRS instances correctly  but the deployment doesn't seem to get through and i get the below error 

Could not get objects from namespace root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ReportServer. The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)

Cannot get the ReportServerWebService URL. Verify that Reporting Services is deployed and configured properly on the target SQL instance:testSQL.test.com\testdb, and that WMI is included on the exception list of firewall setting on the server that is running Reporting Services.

Im not sure what is causing this problem i checked the firewall rules and its not causing any problem.
I can reach the SQL servers from the FE server as well.
Am I missing out anything on this.Any immediate assistance on this is much appreciated.

Move AoL users to Lync pool

Hi,

I have the following doubt. Please clarify.

Suppose we need to move some of AOL users to Lync Enterprise servers so that all AOL users can use Lync after the move without the downtime.

How can we achieve. Please provide the solution for the same.

Upgrade to skype for business server

Good day. During the update server Lync Server 2013 Standart to skype for business server, a problem at the stage of "Removing the local management services," namely, fails ocscore.msi. This step removes the main components and all updates, I have an error, removal does not occur. I decided to remove all the updates hands, half is removed successfully, but to upgrade kb2835432 (5.0.8308.420) error "installed product does not match the installation source." In other words, I do something with the file ocscore.msi this particular version.

I can not find online archive with the updated version 5.0.8308.420, all references are to the latest updates. The window with the error and asks to specify the correct file if it specify the file from the last update, or from the disk with the distribution server, it does not work, it is still a error.

Perhaps there is still some way to remove this update? Or someone can suggest a link to the archive with the old upgrade?

Lync server 2013 Patching experience

Hi all,

first here is our environment:

Hyper-V cluster1 containing 3 hosts.

Lync server 2013 contains of 3 frontend,2edge,2 monitoring,1 Office web app server and 3 sql servers ( total 11 server + 3 hosts)

They are all spread across 3 hosts.

Since Lync does not support live migration, we have for now done patching manually (one and one host so Lync keeps its quorum).

Steps for manual patching (windows update)

Update all VMs on one Host and shut them down. Move them to another host, then update their main host and move back all vms and boot them up.

Then we continue with host 2 and 3 with same steps.

If we want to automate this without shutting down Lync VMs, will it cause issue?

What are are your experiences with this kind of setup?

Luckily this is something we do once a quarter, but it would be nice to automate this. Then rather do CU update manually.

LYNC monitoring with multiple source

what is the concept of LYNC monitoring role if I have two front-end pool , I think I need to deploy monitoring in both pools or I can deploy in one and it will capture all the CDR 

and how is it working with SBA/SBS , will the monitoring role in the front-end capture the CDR made in SBS/SBA ?

Adding a second Lync 2013 Ent Ed Front End pool and Import/Export of configuration

I currently have a Lync 2010 Ent Ed Front pool (Pool2010) and a Lync 2013 Ent Ed Front End pool (Pool2013A).  My Central Management Server is still associated with Pool2010.  Because of a third party application, I can't decommission Lync 2010 just yet.  For now, I'd like to work on building out my DR Lync 2013 Ent Ed Front End pool (Pool2013B).  I vaguely recall using Import-CsConfiguration on the first Lync 2013 pool.  I'm a little unclear if this is something I had to do as part of the initial Lync 2013 installation, or if this is something I will also have to do with the new Lync 2013 pool.  How is this different than running step 1 of the installation process?  If this is required, can someone clarify the sequence of steps after I define and publish the new Lync 2013 pool in Topology builder.  If an export/import of the configuration is required for my second Lync 2013 front end pool, does it matter which server/pool I export the configuration from?

White board and Poll - Need Web App Server or Not ?

Do we need  Web App Server for White Board , Poll and QA to work or Web App server is only need for power point presentation ?

We dont have Web App server and White Board/ Poll is not working even for internal or external users on Lync 2013 client .

Lync 2013 server Enterprise edition is using.

SID Mapping Tool

While we run SID mapping tool, it's running against the OU and will re-run for all the Lync enabled accounts in the respective OU.

How we can restrict to run only for the required user than for running for all the users.

Skype For Business Failover

Hi all i am going to be starting to install Skype for business for a customer who has roughly 150 users. The users are spread over 4 remote sites 2 in Canada and 2 in the USA. One of the major requirements is a fail over. My thought was to install the Skype for business servers in a data center in Canada and have one SBA from audiocodes in the HEAD office in Montreal Quebec. Will this work or should i have the servers in the head office and the SBA in a remote office. Any suggestions and opinions will be appreciated

Mobile clients unable to sign in after latest round of updates. Webhost failed to process a request errors

Our mobile clients that were previously working fine are no longer able to sign in to Lync 2013 with "Can't connect to the server messages"

Relevant factors I think are:

- This issue seems to have come up immediately after the latest round of windows updates

- Another symptom is a lot of Webhost errors on the front end server which also appeared just after updates

WebHost failed to process a request.

HA Voice Routing between sites

Hi guys,

I have a new deployment running Lync 2013 Enterprise. There's two sites, geographically distant defined in Lync. Each site has a single SBC.

I'd like to have it so that should the SBC in site A fail, then the users homed in site A continue to use their FE and Med pools within their site, but will use the SBC / gateway in site B should it detect a failure with the local / site A SBC.

Is this possible? And what's the best way of setting this? Do I really need two PSTN usages for each route? The client has a LOT of voice policies, routes and PSTN usages already in place, and having to duplicate everything seems like a huge undertaking... is there an easier way?

Skype for Business LS Backup Service Error 4069 on Backup Pool

Hi

Got a bit of a weird one here. 

Migrated from Lync 2013 using side by side to Skype for Business. Have no issues apart from this. 

2 x SfB Standard Editions in Pool Pair with HA Voice configured, Backup service is replicating but I get the following warning every 10 minutes or so

First off the XML file is not present in the backup store on the file share of either server. Second, I have checked and remedied all SIP accounts that had been configured with an & ' and - in their naming as these characters are not supported. Hoped that would fix this issue but appears not.

No common area phone addresses, no meeting rooms, no response groups or analog devices have these characters either.

CMS was migrated before the pools where paired. Pool pairing is a new feature for this deployment and not previously configured.

Tried unpairing and repairing already. Running Get-CsBackupServiceStatus returns both servers in FinalState

Seems some routine cannot execute on the CMS.

Any ideas?

Lync 2013 Archiving and Monitoring configuration with multiple Enterprise pools

I have a primary Lync 2013 Ent Ed FE pool already configured with archiving and monitoring on a SQL server\instance called DC1SQL1\Default.  I am now configuring another Lync 2013 Ent Ed FE pool in a second datacenter.  I've read the Microsoft technical articles about collocation, but I am unclear as it seems to use store and database interchangibly.  If I enable Monitoring on my second pool using the same SQL server\instance DC1SQL1\Default, will the data exist in the same databases for both pools, or will it create additional databases for the second pool in the same SQL instance?  I see the benefit to having all the data in the same database, so it seems like this would be the preferred approach.  If on the other hand I just have multiple databases on the same SQL server\instance, it seems like I should just use a separate SQL server like DC2SQL1.

I have the same scenario/question for archiving.

So in short, should I use the same SQL server\instance for both pools for archiving and monitoring?

CM Movement Error - Network Object could not be found

Hello All........I was moving CMS from 2010 to 2013 using following command

Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase -SQLServerFQDN sqlclsuter.domain.com -SQLInstanceName Lync

but, I was constantly getting Network Object could not be found error, so I tried my luck with following command:

Install-CsDatabase –CentralManagementStore –UseDefaultSQLPaths –SQLServerFQDN sqlcluster.domain.com

and everything worked out.

What could be the reason behind it?

Hello All.............If one is moving CMS from 2010 to 2013, is it necessary to run the install-csdatabase on all the respective pools that are not sharing the same database such as Primary Site and DR Site?

Rephrasing it

2010 SQL (2010 FE Pool - CMS Holder)

2012 SQL (2013 Primary FE Pool and soon to be CMS Holder)

2012 SQL (2013 DR FE Pool)  - Do I need to install the database here as well?

Skype For Business Monitoring with SCOM

Hello,

We have installed Watcher node for Skype for Business 2015. It's working, but there is annoying decimal conversion problem.

For example, IM Synthetic Transaction. On Event logs in Watcher node we can see that latency is 00:00:03.4439805. But SCOM reports this as 34439805,00 Seconds and naturally raises warning because of this.

Is there any way we can fix this problem?

Versions:
Skype For Business 2015 (Windows 2012)
SCOM 2012R2 (Windows 2012)
Skype Watcher node (Windows 2012R2)

Default system locale is set to Finnish (Finland) on every server.

Hello,
Skype for Business Server 2015 (front-end) sometimes reports this error on Event Viewer => Application and Services Logs => Lync Server:

  • Source: LS User Services
  • Event ID: 32263
  • Description:

    An error occurred while processing a batch of NotifyPipe replies from another front end. This resulted in the notification not being sent. Error code: 0xC3E93C2F(SIPPROXY_E_UNKNOWN_USER_OR_EPID), Error identifier: NotifySingle.Notify Cause: Possible issues with the other front end or with this front end. Resolution: Ensure the front end is functioning correctly.

Notes:

  • I already read this TechNet Forums post LS User Services - Event 32263 (not "Marked as Answer")
  • Skype for Business Server 2015 servers (both front-end and edge) are working fine; Event Viewer reports no errors with exception of that reported above.

Skype for Business Server 2015 Federation with Skype

Hello,
I have a question regarding Skype for Business Server 2015 (on-premise) andSkype (consumer) federation.

We deployed Skype connectivity in Skype for Business Server 2015 following this TechNet Library article Deploy Skype Connectivity in Skype for Business Server 2015.

Skype for Business Client

  1. I search Skype contacts by using "Skype Directory"
  2. The I add searched contact to my contact list (see screenshot below)

    Add this contact

  3. I see the "Pending - Skype" status near new added contact (see screenshot below)

  4. If I double click over new contact this message appears "Skype for Business - <SkypeUsername>@skypeids.net can only be reached after your contact request is accepted." (see screenshot below)

  5. The request never reached Skype (consumer) account

Question: Please, could you tell me if federation with Skype (consumer) is really working (any official answer from Microsoft will be appreciated) ? Or could it be a Skype for Business server side issue ?
