Skype Hybrid vs Cloud PSTN

$

Gents i wanted to ask the general view of Skype On Prem Hybrid VS Cloud PSTN and your views on each tech.

I know the Cloud stuff doesn't go GA till later and the functionality is kinda not as heavy as what Hybrid gives you, however Hybrid does come with issues and i feel deploying it may put you at risk of ever deploying Cloud PSTN at a later date.

If you were deploying 200K seats of E5 from Microsoft and the customer wanted voice, what path would you take. I see a lot of external parties offering Cloud PSTN/PBX in the responses, and the hybrid angle used less and less.

pros and cons of each ?

Do you think there will always be a place for Hybrid on prem or will MSFt deprecate it in time.

Can you mix and match the two, or deploying one tech stop you moving to the other at a later date ?

Thanks

Hi all,

When I run

Get-CsDatabaseMirrorState –PoolFQDN FEpool01.domain.local | FT

I get the following output:

If I check status on primary and secondary it seems ok?

Primary

Secondary

Is everything ok or something I need to fix here?

thanks!

EWS Internal/External URLs blank in config for 1 user at least

Hi,

I have one user that has completely blank EWS Internal URL and EWS External URL fields in the Lync 2013 configuration information.

I've seen one or the other be blank or wrong before, and clearing out their Lync profile from both the registry and the profile area of the hard drive worked in fixing it, but not for this user.

Checked system time and it's right on.

I verified my domain passes the Microsoft connectivity test for Lync autodiscover.

Is there a specific thing that needs changing on that client?  It's working for everyone else (20000 plus people).

Is there a registry entry where I can manually input the EWS URLs?

Anyone know what else I can check?

Failure to Publish Topology

I rebuilt my topology from scratch and when I go to publish it, it errors out each time. The first error asks me to overwrite changes that were made to the Central Management Store. Strange, cause I have not made any changes to the store? I say yes and the next error is: "When you delete an application or external server, you delete all configuration state information for the hosted applications. Do you wish to continue?". I say yes to all and it immediately errors out.

"Microsoft.Rtc.Management.Deployment.DeploymentException" "Changing the FQDN of a cluster is not permitted. You must remove and add in separate steps."

Skype for Business Call Quality Dashboard - blank pages

$

Hi,

I've managed to install the CQD, corrected the Connection Provider for SSAS to SQL (it was using native client 11 not 10 for 2008 R2) to make sure the QoEArchiveUpdate job is running successfully, and corrected the IIS authentication per the deployment instructions. However I'm still getting blank pages in the web interface.

If I browse to http://localhost/CQD it prompts for Windows credentials and shows me the Skype CQD blue banner across the top with the Settings and Help icons in the top right, but nothing underneath. If I try going to System Health or User Dashboard List I just get "We couldn't retrieve data from the server. Try refreshing the page."

I've tried browsing from both IE (with compatibility view & trusted sites) and Chrome. Checked the IIS logs and not seeing any errors in there, nor in SQL. IIS authorisation is set to allow all users. Any more ideas?

SQL, SSAS and IIS all on one VM running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 with SP1, fully patched.

Using SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise x64 with SP3.

EDIT - also changed authenticatedUserOverride for file access per the deployment instructions.

Thanks,

Jon

Lync 2013 coexistence with Skype for Business 2015

Hello,

Scenario is large multi domain forest with lync 2013 installed. One of the tenants in one domain has enterprise deployment lync 2013 and operates several pools for the other tenants in the other domains.

Now one of the other tenants in one of the other child domains wants to install skype for business server 2015,

My question is can this be installed in coexistence in the forest without affecting the existing setup, what would be involved?

Would you use the topology builder for skpye server 2015 and add in skype servers along side the existing topology.

Most of the guides I've researched all talk about in place upgrades, the tenant with 2013 does not want thier 2013 upgraded.

Move Lync Enterprise backend databases to different SQL server

I'm at a bit of a loss here and would like some help. Being a newbie at Lync deployment I ask that someone try and keep it simple.

We currently have 3 servers in our Lync 2013 Enterprise environment. CMS resides on the FE server and the DBs are located on one of our SQL servers. I am trying to figure out how to move the DBs to one of our other SQL servers. I've attempted some of the solutions in the following links, however both say to establish a Standard Edition Server in the environment before moving the CMS and backup/restore the DBs steps. The trouble I'm having is getting the SE server setup and in the pool to accomplish this. Any and all help would be awesome!

Skype for Business - Error 0xC3E93C2F (SIPPROXY_E_UNKNOWN_USER_OR_EPID)

Hey all,

Recently migrate from Lync server to Skype for Business 2015 (standard edition, 1 fe, 1 edge).  Both are alive and user has no problem except for address book synchronizing problem and read on some forum that i should change the policy to WebSearchOnly. Though im not satisfied with that solution (coz i wanna the address book available locally), i can live with that for now.

My problem is about repeating error LS User Services as below:

An error occurred while processing a batch of NotifyPipe replies from another front end. This resulted in the notification not being sent.

Error code: 0xC3E93C2F(SIPPROXY_E_UNKNOWN_USER_OR_EPID), Error identifier: NotifySingle.Notify
Cause: Possible issues with the other front end or with this front end.
Resolution:
Ensure the front end is functioning correctly.

I didn't find any error on system event regarding to this, and my front ends works fine. I wonder what is this error all about?

I dont expect anyone to suggest me to make sure latest update installed on server  cause that doesn't resolve the issue as it has been discussed in here and here

Hello,
Skype for Business Server 2015 (front-end) sometimes reports this error on Event Viewer => Application and Services Logs => Lync Server:

  • Source: LS User Services
  • Event ID: 32263
  • Description:

An error occurred while processing a batch of NotifyPipe replies from another front end. This resulted in the notification not being sent. Error code: 0xC3E93C2F(SIPPROXY_E_UNKNOWN_USER_OR_EPID), Error identifier: NotifySingle.Notify Cause: Possible issues with the other front end or with this front end. Resolution: Ensure the front end is functioning correctly.

Notes:

  • I already read this TechNet Forums post LS User Services - Event 32263 (not "Marked as Answer")
  • Skype for Business Server 2015 servers (both front-end and edge) are working fine; Event Viewer reports no errors with exception of that reported above.

Thank you,
Luca

Hello

Looking to upgrade to Win 2012 but I would like to upgrade one server at a time in a Lync 2013 pool.

Does anyone know if there are any issue with a Lync 2013 pool in a mixed Win 2008 R2 and Win 2012 OS environment?

I'm looking for MS documentation, if any?

Thanks :)

My colleague is running an earlier version of Skype for business on Windows 10 (only he has the 32 bit version running) at my same company, and he has the missing phone icon and can make calls easily. Same goes for another colleague running an older Windows Version. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? The phone icon shows up immediately to the right of the person, clock, and calendar icons on his screen, below my name, availability and location status. Icon isn't there on mine. I know my audio is working, as I can accept Skype for business calls from others in my organization, and I can make calls easily from my regular Skype application dashboard on the same PC. Could this be causing a conflict? I don't want to mix these accounts as I use my Skype account for personal uses. Thanks for any information or assistance! </button>

Check event details.  Check autodiscovery Uri is properly configured and reachable. Check that proxy setting is properly configured and reachable.  Validate Lync to Exchange Autodiscovery configuration by following the trouble shooting guide. If problem persists, notify your organization's support team with the event details.

Not sure why it is trying to use https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.svc. Is this correct?  I thought it should behttps://lyncdiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.svc orhttps://lyncweb.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.svc.

If I run Get-CsService -WebServer | fl  autodiscover*, I receive the following output:

AutodiscoverServiceExternalUri : https://lyncweb.domain.com/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root
AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri : https://lyncpool.domain.local/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root

As I said, everything looks good and working. Anyone has any ideas what that is?

Thank you.

Thank you. Eric.

Enable Lync for Users in Another Domain

Hi team

My organization is having Lync enterprise edition. We want to enable Lync for some users , but users should not login into domain machine using that credentials, but they can login to Lync client. For this purpose we planned to create a Tree domain and enable Lync for this domain users.

Root Domain - ABC.co.in

Tree Domain - XYZ.com same forest

Following Steps been Done

1. Build a Tree Domain XYZ.com ( Opened Ports between ABC.co.in & XYZ.com . Also opened Tcp ports 389 and 3268 from this       domain to Lync servers )

2.  Added Sip Domain in Topology. ( After publishing the topology i am able to enable users for both domains )

3. In XYZ.com domain we created some new users. ( Eg: test user1 , test user2 )

Issue

When trying to enable for Lync for XYZ.com domain users , Not able to find the XYZ.com users in the Search.

Please suggest how to solve the issue.

Also suggest is there any other way to restrict Lync users to Login to domain machines,if user is in  ABC.co.in domain.
