Lync 2013 On Prem - On Prem UM Exchange 2010 - Migrating UM enabled User Mailboxes to EOL while allowing forwarding of On Prem UM voicemails to their EOL Mailboxes

$

We currently have a hybrid Exchange 2010 environment with non-UM users on Exchange Online & UM users On-Prem.  Our Lync 2013 environment is fully On-Prem.

We are planning the following:

  • Staged migration of UM Users to Exchange Online
  • Leaving Exchange 2010 UM & Lync 2013 On-Prem for at least a year (or more) after migration

With Exchange 2010 UM server & Lync 2013 both On-Prem, what steps need to be taken to:

  • Allow us to migrate Exchange UM users mailboxes to the EOL?
Currently we get errors stating mailbox cannot be migrated because UM is enabled.  If we disable UM, the migration completes but we can no longer enable UM for users on local Exchange UM server.
  • Allow migrated Exchange UM Users to receive their voicemails in EOL?

Appreciate any guidance that can help get our UM users on board EOL with voicemail messages being forward from On-Prem with as little down time & issues as possible.

We can coexistence Lync 2010 SBA with Skype for business. Does it  recommend migration to Skype for business SBS server?

Migration step is setup skype for business SBS server and migration Lync 2010 User to Skype for business Front end Pool and move to SBS server?

SBA still didn't have Skype for business 2015 version, can we move user to Lync 2013 SBA server and enjoy Lync 2013 VOIP feature?

Lync 2010 , Lync 2013 and skype for business can't be coexistence?

Thanks.

issue related to CsClientPolicy

Hi There,

I work for an environment which has 100's of Lync servers in total, there are so many FE pools , Edge pools, sites etc

When I run get-CsClientPolicy command it lists me so many , nearly there are 40+ policies already exist.

when I check for one specific user get-csUser -identity "username" , client policy shows nothing, its actually empty.

My questions are,

1. does it mean this user is applied with default policy, which is global?

2. I can see 40+ no of policies here, how to locate the global policy?

Hi There,

I have a problem with one of a VIP user.

Manager has given his assistant as a delegate in his outlook, however when the assistant try to book a meeting on behalf of manager it says the following error

Manager and Assistant both belongs to same site and same FE pool

In assistant machine I have checked the MAPI connection status , says OK

Manager and his assistant both assigned with a client policy which has "EnableExchangeDelegateSync" set to true.

I also added that assistant as a delegate to his manager through the SQL DB commands.

both the users have not enabled EV.

Deleted the delegate and re-added in outlook.

so far no luck and the issue remains same, I'm still exploring various steps, please help me if I have missed anything.

Hi,

I am trying to figure out some solution to this issue. please help!

All of PSTN callers (doesn't matters a internal PBX phone user or external PSTN DID caller) in any dial in conference are being displayed by name GUEST only.
Now when I hover mouse over that GUEST attendee I can able to see full number.
how we can change that behavior? we want that all PSTN callers should be displayed by full number only.
Is there any setting we caa change to achieve that output?

we are using an IPPBX system as PSTN gateway solution for Lync server 2013.

Ajit

Lync Status Suggestion

Hi MS Team,

This is actually a suggestion, not a question.

I would like to see Microsoft remove "Appear Away" from Lync status. I think it promotes a lot of deception in work environment.

"Busy" and "Do Not Disturb" status are good enough to tell people that you are busy or you do not wish to be disturbed, but sitting at your desk and appearing away for 16 hours or 3 days is not just productive, and purely deceptive.

Thanks,

Beejay

Stop Lync from popping up on screen

Microsoft Lync frequently pops up on my computer screen.  The frequency seems random, but perhaps averages about once every 20-30 minutes.  It's like a notification or a reestablishment of a lost connection, but no reason is stated and the connection never appears to be lost.  The popup is just the standard Lync dialog box that includes "What's happening today", frequent contacts, etc.  I use this box to make phone calls and IM coworkers, so Lync needs to stay on.  However, the popping up is annoying.  Is there a way to stop this other than turning Lync off?  A setting perhaps?  Thank you!

Upgrade to Skype for Business failing with code 1638

Dear all,

I am attempting to upgrade our Lync Servers to Skype for Business 2015.

After performing all the steps listed on the Microsoft article for the upgrade, I keep receiving error wile tring to install server.msi

Upon checking the logs, i've stepped into this:

MSI (s) (64:34) [11:18:16:949]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding PackagecodeChanging property. Its value is '1'.
Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel.

How is this possible? I understand I have to uninstall Lync server first? Why bother then to use the in-place upgrade feature?

Can anyone advise?

IVR - Forwarding calls from one queue to another when no agents are available.

$

Hello!

I'd like to confirm queue behaviour when transferring calls due to queue overflow or queue time-out conditions being met.

The queue action for Queue A when one of the conditions are met is to forward the call the Queue B.

Queue B has formal membership. For this example, there are currently no agents signed in to Queue B.

During the regular business day, Queue A meets one of its conditions and tries to forward the call to Queue B. Given there are no agents signed in, will the call sit in Queue B on hold until ITS conditions are met? Or does Lync Server check Queue B for signed-in agents before transferring?

Thanks in advance!

Lync 2013 FE Isreadyforupgrade is False

Hello,

I have a lync pool with 3 FE servers.  If i run get-cspoolupgradereadinessstate i get inconsistent reponses from each server.  Below is the response i get from each server (state, total frontends, and totalactivefrontends is the same for each server). As you can see, the isreadyforupgrade value is different depending on which server is running the command?  is this to be expected?  all services are running on each FE.

Conference Directories

$

Guys,

I'm in the process of decommissioning our Lync 2010 environment (2 Lync 2010 pools in a domain and subdomain) after installing Skype for Business (2 SfB pools in a domain and subdomain) in the same topology. I am now facing the Conference Directory dilemma, should I delete the Lync ones or do I move them to the Skype pools? I would like to avoid moving over Lync stuff to the new pools but I'm a bit hesitant of deleting the Conferencing Directories without knowing what's in them and if they are being used. Any ideas of how I can see if they are being used/view content?

All users have been moved over to the skype pools and issuing the Get-CSConferenceDirectory will show 4 directories (2 for the old Lync pools and 2 for the new Skype pools).

Thanks for any feedback!

Users with a specific sip domain address can't log in Lync via iPhones

I have two users, lets call them Michael Bradly and Mary Goodman.
I have a Lync server 2013 R2 solution setup for domainone.com and domaintwo.com

Michael Bradlysip:mbradly@domainone.com
Mary Goodmansip:mgoodman@domaintwo.com

Both can log in to the Skype for Business client in windows fine using their respective sip credentials, but the users with domaintwo.com sip addresses cannot sign in using the iphone.  Haven't tried on a droid yet because nobody in domaintwo.com has a droid.  Each user has a default smtp address in exchange set to the same sip address.

Is there a correlation with the UPN in AD or is it only using the msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress in the users account?

QoS application for Lync for Mac 2011 clients

$

Hi guys,

I'm deploying Lync 2013 at a customer site. We'll be applying QoS by enforcing static port ranges within Lync (CsConferencingConfiguration), and applying ACLs on the network equipment and dropping the various Lync modalities into the relevant QoS queue, pretty standard.

Quick question. What's the expected behaviour for the Lync for Mac 2011 client. Will it honour the port ranges as defined on the Lync server conferencing configuration? Can't seem to find the answer anywhere online or in the forums.

2nd question - does anyone know what the meaning of the following command:

Set-CsMediaConfiguration -EnableQoS $True

According to the TechNet article titled Enabling QoS for devices that are not based on Windows, it sounds like this command has some role to play in enabling QoS for non-Windows devices... just wondering if that includes Mac OS. Again, information is sketchy on this.

Cheers, James.

Lync Interactive Voice Response group - Wrong selection

Hello,

In a Lync Interactive Voice Response group with multiple options (1=Sales, 2=Marketing, etc...)

What does happen if the caller presses the wrong key, can we detect that and play a message and go back to the IVR menu message ?

The same question for the case where the caller does not press any key at all, can we forward to a generic number or eventually play a message and go back to the IVR menu ?

Thanks for your help,

Luca
