Re-configuring hostingprovider

$

0

Hi,

we are planning for moving to skype online and have been reading about removing and adding the hostingprovider again with the command:

New-CSHostingProvider -Identity SkypeforBusinessOnline -ProxyFqdn "sipfed.online.lync.com" -Enabled $true -EnabledSharedAddressSpace $true -HostsOCSUsers $true -VerificationLevel UseSourceVerification -IsLocal $false -AutodiscoverUrl https://webdir.online.lync.com/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root

This is a configuration that has to do with us "federating" with the Skype Online right?

Will this command have any effect on the on-prem users when executed? It seems that current configuration is called LyncOnline, same proxyfqdn, enabledsharedaddressspace false, hostcsusers, galse and no autodiscoverurl...

Just want to know if I run this command what will happen to the environment and what the end-user impact will be. Or is this just the configuration (enabler) from the on-prem site to allow federation with Skype Online when it have been configured from the Skype Online as well?

Thanks!

Hosting Pack no longer works with Office365 (They refuse to assist!)

I just wanted to let everyone know that Microsoft has completely wrote off the Hosting Pack and is no longer even supporting it (Even though they said they will if it is already installed for a while longer).

The problem is Office365 has to add people using the Hosting Pack as a "Hosting Provider" in order for you to federate/dynamic federate with Office365. They REFUSE to do this even though they have done it in the past. Microsoft is completely writing off the Hosting Pack and forcing partners to do something else or move to their system due to a large incompatibility with other providers (including Office365).

I have worked for over a month with both the Lync team and the Office365 team trying to get this to work and they ended up turning me down. You can see here at one time it was working and they were adding hosting providers: http://www.careexchange.in/federation-from-lync-hosting-packs-lhp-2013-tenants-to-lync-online-is-not-working/

Just letting everyone know!

Lync server RAP assessment

Hi There,

Recently we have performed the RAP assessment for our Lync infrastructure, as a results there are 100's of issues/bugs that are reported by this tool. surprisingly under the critical category itself we have around 40+ issues.

for example, one of the statement is "KHI - Total failed calls caused by unexpected interaction from a gateway" along with the list of affected objects, surprisingly all my Mediation servers are listed there, but in reality no users have reported any issues for voice quality/failures etc, but my customer is keen to resolve these problem statements reported by assessment tool.

likewise, there are 40+ issues reported by this tool and none of them are in understandable format, unfortunately i'm not able to find fix to these errors. Please advise how to take it forward.

Hi All ,

Do you have any idea on LYNC : We have an users who are facing issue while sharing the screen "An Error Occured during the screen presentation" And this is happening when 3 or more participants are on the call

1) Do you have any idea how to enable client side logging ? & stored location.
2) Can we setup logging on the server?  without a LYNC monitoring server.

Lync 2013 multiple SIP domains.

I have  a Lync server enterprise pool configured for domainA.com and all works well. Due to acquisitions, I need to have some users under a different sip domain (domainB.com).

I can see that I can add another sip domain in the topology and that this displays to allow me to select domainB.com for some users. When I went into "install or update lync" it didn't show there was anything additional to install after publishing the topology.

My question is.

If I add all the additional DNS records to domainB, will this work and achieve what I am trying to do.

Paul.

Lync Server 2013 Event ID 32134 SQL

I noticed this error in my event log and it says failed to connect to back end database.  SQL is fine but while looking at the configuration I noticed this.

My Lync Pool is setup like this:  (server names changed to protect the guilty)

Monitoring SQL Server store: sql01

Monitoring SQL Server store: sql02

Monitoring SQL server witness:  svr01

However, SQL is setup like this:

Principal:  sql02

Mirror: sql01

witness svr01

So, a Lync report shows the databases are flopped, Primary is the mirror and the mirror is the principal.

My question:  Is this something I should address?

Lync 2013 Edge replication not working

hi, I have a Lync 2013 Edge replication issue - it is simply not working.

UpToDate           : False
ReplicaFqdn        : LyncEdge.contoso.com

I have already checked the following:

1) telnet from FEP servers to the Edge sever on port 4443 is working

2) Certificates are installed correctly - Lync Federation, Voice/Video to Skype, Lync Mobile is all working fine.

3) Replication traffic checking showing the following error in XDS logs:

I have checked certificate stores: there are only 34 certificates in the Root folder and the SendTrustedIssuerList reg. key has been configured, which did not solve the issue.

Any idea how to troubleshoot this or possible root causes?

Skype for Business standalone client activation

Hello,

In our VLSC page we have only MAK key for Skype for Business 2016 client. Office 2016 licenses not purchased, only Office 2013. Our environment has no connection to Internet, it's completely isolated. Activation 500 clients via phone is a big challange :) Is there other ways to activate clients, or convert MAK key to KMS?

AD FS and DNS when going hybrid?

Hi,

If we are going hybrid with Lync Server 2013 and Skype Online and we are utilizing AD FS.

1) When decomissioning Lync Server 2013 on-prem shall all DNS entires be reconfigured to point towards Skype Online?

2) What is the autodiscover lookup method for Lync 2013 and skype clients? lyncdiscover.company.com A record first or SRV?

3) the client gots to skype online, gets information to go "home" to AD FS and authenticate and then backup to sign in to the service?

Lync 2013 hybrid configuration step-by-step

$

Hi guys,

just want to take this with you to see if this is about right...seems to easy...

1) Configure federation of Lync Server 2013 with Skype Online
Set-CSAccessEdgeConfiguration -AllowOutsideUsers 1 -AllowFederatedUsers 1 -UseDnsSrvRouting -EnablePartnerDiscovery $True

New-CSHostingProvider -Identity LyncOnline -ProxyFqdn "sipfed.online.lync.com" -Enabled $true -EnabledSharedAddressSpace $true -HostsOCSUsers $true -VerificationLevel UseSourceVerification -IsLocal $false -AutodiscoverUrl https://webdir.online.lync.com/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root

2) Configure Your Skype for Business Online Tenant for a Shared SIP Address Space
Set-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -SharedSipAddressSpace $true

3) Moving Pilot Users to Skype Online
Move-CsUser -Identity username@contoso.com -Target sipfed.online.lync.com -Credential $creds -HostedMigrationOverrideUrl <URL>
(where HostedMigrationOverrideUrl parameter must be the URL to the pool where the Hosted Migration service is running, in the following format: Https://<Pool FQDN>/HostedMigration/hostedmigrationService.svc)

4) DNS resolution
All DNS related information should point to the on-premises infrastructure. But my questions are when we are about to decomission the on-premises Lync Servers...
Question 1) Before decomission we shall point EVERY? record to Skype online?
Question 2) What is the target end-point?
Question 3) Can one remove some of the records? We are using Lync 2013, Skype for Business client and mobile devices...

so... what to do with:

# Internal
_sipinternaltls._tcp.company.com
lyncdiscoverinternal.company.com
webint.company.com
sip.company.com
pool01.company.com
meet.company.com
dialin.company.com

# External
_sipfederationtls._tcp.company.com
_sip.tls.company.com
_xmpp-server.tcp.company.com
sip.company.com
webext.company.com
av.company.com
lyncdiscover.company.com
meet.company.com
dialin.company.com

We also have a few other sip domains that are currently being configured for meet.company.com/companyC etc...

How should it be configured in the end`?

Office Web Apps Server IIS site disappeared?

$

I deployed an Office Web Apps server on a dedicated VM to be used for Lync 2013. After the initial installation / set up, I confirmed the discovery URL. It worked fine.

However, after one point in time, PowerPoint Presentations stopped working. When trying to share a PPT presentation, the Lync client popped up a message saying "Sorry, we couldn't upload <ppt file name> because we're having trouble connecting to the service. If this keeps happening, try contacting your support team". I've done many many Lync and Office Web Apps install myself previously, and never had a message pop up like the one I saw in this case.

I tried going to the Web Apps discovery URL again, and it didn't get anywhere. I got on the Web Apps server and all the IIS sites were wiped.

I tried uninstalling the Office Web Apps server and reinstalling, but from that point on, IIS sites for Web Apps just would not appear under IIS manager.

Has anyone had similar issue with Office Web Apps?

Thanks,

Set-CsUser : Extension token missing after telephone number

$

0

Short version:

A user that currently is set to Audio/Video Disabled in Lync Server 2016 wants to be able to create Lync conferences and then call in from their mobile phone when it is time. This, of course, requires a PIN but they are unable to set the PIN because we don't have a LineURI for them set.

I am trying to set a Lync user's LineURI to "tel:<their 10-digit mobile phone number>;phone-context=defaultprofile", but I am receiving the following error message when I do so:

"Set-CsUser : Extension token missing after telephone number. Specify the missing extension token and then try again."

The user does not have an extension.  The number is their mobile phone number.  Our phone system also doesn't use E.164 format.

Long version:

Our Lync Server 2013 environment does not use Enterprise Voice.  Instead, it is integrated with Cisco CUCM telephony via Remote Call Control.  Our CUCM environment is set up such that all extensions are just set up with a 5-digit extension number; it is not set up in E.164 format.

Our PowerShell script that creates and updates Lync users uses the officePhone field in Active Directory to generate the LineURI.  Using a regular expression, it just grabs extension portion and generates a LineURI like this:  "tel:12345;ext=12345;phone-context=dialstring".  Then we use the address normalization text file to generate the address book.  This works great for anyone in our organization that has a phone on the Cisco CUCM phone network.

That said, we have some users that do not have extensions in the Cisco CUCM phone network.  Instead, they typically use their mobile phone number as their work phone.  So, in Active Directory, the officePhone field for these people just has their 10-digit mobile number.  Our script sets these users to Audio/Video Disabled and sets their LineURI to $null.  This has never been an issue in the past.  Until today, when such a user called with the issue setting their conference PIN.  Today, this person complained that they were unable to set their conference PIN.  Of course they can't.  They don't have a LineURI set.

So what I decided to do is create a Lync conference and call in with my cell phone to see what LineURI Lync sees.  I opened the Guest's contact card and it showed "tel:<my 10-digit mobile phone number>;phone-context=defaultprofile".  I opened Lync Management Shell and ran the following command:

Set-CsUser "<username>" -LineURI "tel:<my 10-digit mobile telephone number>;phone-context=defaultprofile"

I was using my own number as a test so I could see what happened when I called in to a conference from my mobile phone and to see if it showed the users' name.  But I couldn't even get as far as the test.  The Set-CsUser cmdlet returned the following error message:

"Set-CsUser : Extension token missing after telephone number. Specify the missing extension token and then try again."

I don't understand why this is happening.  I know for a fact that, at one time, we were setting people's LineURIs to "tel:<5-digit extension>;phone-context=dialstring" rather than today's "tel:<5-digit extension>;ext=<5-digit extension>;phone-context=dialstring".

I tried setting the LineURI to "tel:<my 10-digit phone number>" and it does take that.  I suppose that does solve the issue of the user not being able to set a conference PIN, but then it doesn't show their name when they call in.

Bottom line:

How can I set the LineURI properly for people who use a mobile phone as their main number where Lync sees their URI as "tel:<10-digit phone number>;phone-context=defaultprofile" so that...

  • The user can use https://dialin.<domain>.<root>/ to set their own conference PIN.
  • Lync will not only accept that LineURI for the Lync user account, but also associate and display the name instead of "Guest" when that phone number calls the Lync conference line from the PSTN?

Your company policy doesn't allow you to use Skype Meeting Broadcast.

Hi, I want to try my hand at Skype Meeting broadcast but am hitting this error.

Your company policy doesn't allow you to use Skype Meeting Broadcast.

I run a school network so I know the EDU licenses don't cover it but have bought a Skype for Business Online ‎(Plan 2) license which I thought covered it.

I then tried using powershell to make sure its enabled for my network and got this after running the right command.

PS U:\> Set-CsBroadcastMeetingConfiguration -EnableBroadcastMeeting $True
PS U:\> Get-CsBroadcastMeetingConfiguration

Identity                                             : Global

EnforceBroadcastMeetingRecording                     : False
BroadcastMeetingSupportUrl                           :
EnableSdnProviderForBroadcastMeeting                 : False
SdnFallbackAttendeeThresholdCountForBroadcastMeeting : 0

Am I missing something obvious?

When I attempt to log onto the site at https://portal.broadcast.skype.com/en-US/# I get the company policy error.

What exactly this mean ? : Activation (Enable-CsComputer) may need to be re-run on impacted Front End servers.

On execution of "Set-CsSimpleURLConfiguration" on Skype for business 2015 Front end 1 server, I received a warning -

"Activation (Enable-CsComputer) may need to be re-run on impacted Front End servers."

What this exactly mean ?

Do I need to execute "Enable-CsComputer" command on all FE and director servers ?

Please let me know asap.

Basic issue I am facing is -

Problem Statement:
Meet URL does not work after adding a SIP domain in a tenant organization and executed "Enable-CsComputer" command on only one FE server (FE1) out of 3 (FE2 and FE3 - not executed).<o:p></o:p>

If I try to access meet URL which contains the newly added SIP domain, doesn't get browsed with a browser when a request hits on FE2 and FE3, unless and until I execute "Enable-CsComputer on FE2 and FE3 servers.<o:p></o:p>

Is there any Microsoft's link available which says that after adding a new SIP domain,"Enable-CsComputer" command execution is mandatory for all FE servers?<o:p></o:p>

I am doing a Skype For Business In-Place Upgrade referring to this guide: https://judeperera.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/step-by-step-guide-for-upgrading-lync-2013-to-skype-for-business-2015/

This is a Lync 2013 deployment that was upgraded from an evaluation install. This might be relevant to the issue.

Everything goes smoothly until the actual upgrade is executed via the .exe file. Inplace Upgrade fails at 'Uninstalling roles', throwing back the error:

Office Web Apps server URI is but is in topology

$

I'm looking at event ID 41012 on a Lync 2013 server when the Data MCU service restarts, which tells me:

"Office Web Apps Server discovery Uri: <not configured>"

Data MCU does this even though I have a server defined in the topology. That server is an Office Online Server that is working with Exchange 2016 and SharePoint 2013. It's the newer OOS server rather than the older OWA server.

From the Lync 2013 server I can visit the discovery URI and retrieve the XML file from the OOS server, but it seems Data MCU is ignoring the topology. I've rerun the Lync Server Deployment Wizard twice, and I've restarted Data MCU and the front-end server entirely, with the same result.

The IM MCU event 33022 lists my front-end server, edge server and office online server in the trusted server list, so something is seeing it in the topology.

Is this just a matter of waiting for Lync to sort itself out after adding the OOS server to the topology?

everything was configured in help of technet , everything works perfectly, but I noticed one problem, when I try to reach external ip of sip service without dns, just ip address, I get

Status: 404 Not Found Server: RTC/5.0 FQDN: LEDGEOPP01.domain.com

this only working in chrome and firefox, IE just gives 404 error

why it gives domain name? I really dont want anyone to know internal domain name so easy, how can I remove it?
