Lync Server 2013 to Skype for Business Server 2015 - Side by Side Migration guide?

Hi,

So, I know the official advice is to do an in-place upgrade of LS2013 to SfBS 2015.

But, in my environment we can't easily do that. Basically, the server running LS2013 (Standard Edition) has a number of issues including not being able to install any Windows Updates for about a year, and it's on Windows Server 2008 R2 which is getting on a bit, and also seemingly some .NET errors that I haven't been able to fix. It works as a Lync Server, bit I'm not sure I'd consider it stable. It's Standard Edition single server (though we have a separate Edge server as well).
I basically can't risk doing an in-place upgrade because it's very likely to fall over.

So, I've been scouring the net trying to find a good actual guide for doing a side-by-side migration and not come up with one.

I've been using the Lync 2010 -> Lync 2013 official Microsoft docs as a guideline, but it's obviously not all relevant.

I found this but it's only the 1st half of the article and I've already got that far. Looks like Part 2 was never written.

What I need is all the steps for moving users (straightforward), response groups (less so), Exchange integration (much less so), whateverelseisneeded, and then finally decommissioning the Lync Server 2013 afterwards.

Anyone got any good links, Microsoft or 3rd party?

Hi,

I'm installing SfB Server 2019 standard server on windows 2019 server in single forest and single domain environment. 

After installation process I get error when staring service , the Front end service - Rtcsrv won't start. Also the Windows Fabric service fails.

I'm using using self signed certificates at this point signed by the local windows authority server. 
Importing the certificate was successful without errors.

I've also checked that all rights should be ok and I've also ran the 
Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState command with -ResetType FullReset, no help.

Also I've reinstalled Fabric host service also no help.

I've also done the whole installation process twice and had the same result.

Hi, I have a Skype session detail ie session ID and date /time. Now I need to know which participant /s are unmuted at certain time stamp in the meeting. Pl suggest way forward as through which report I can check the same.

Wildcard Certifikate - Edge server/External web

Hello,

In our company we have deployed Lync 2013 CU4 with topology,

Edge server - One for all roles a/v

Front End - Standard with all roles

All certs are form our internal CA, and it works for my domain users. But for all external users or skype we need external cert. We have one wildcard cert for our domain.

So question is can we user wildcard cert for our Edge server, and exteranal serwis of front end.

Skype for business wont accept my password - possible click to run issue w Office 365

Hello, Skype for business absolutely will not accept my password. Im not locked and I have Office 365 installed - click to run. I think that is the issue, but has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance.

Trying to find out last logon for Lync users

We are doing a migration from Lync 2013 to SFB 2015. I have a number of Lync accounts which are know are not being used. I just need to know which tables to query in SQL 2008 R2 that will get this information. If someone has a SQL query or a script, please share. Seems like something fundamentally easy if you know SQL which I do not.

Hi Guys,

Recently we are planning to perfrom BCP our Lync Infran.

Environment

==========

Office A: Lync FE / Edge and Intergrated with Cisco Voice

Office B

==========

Both Office A and B have Internet export

Right now, all the necessary lync server is published to outside by our firewall by using NAT. If one day the Internet is down on Office A, is there any menthoed we can consider to migrate all the lync server feature or function to be published to Internet from Office A to B?

Any idea is appreciated!

Temporarily disable bulk users in Lyc 2013

I have about 2000 Lync accounts that are not being used. The Disable-CsUser command actually removes the account. I just want to disable it. Like when you use Control Panel and select Action --> Temporarily Disable Lync Account. It just removes the check mark under enabled.

Is there any way to do this with PowerShell? I figure if we just temporarily disable the account and then someone needs it again, I just enable it in CP instead of recreating it from scratch.

SFB 2015. User migration hosted on SBA

Hi,

We have a OnPrem SFB 2015 environment in 1 Datacenter (FE Pool 1). We are in process of migrating servers to another DC managed by other vendor. Both DC has Firewall between them.

We are setting up new SFB Servers in target datacenter and will create new Front end Pool (FE Pool 2) in same Lync site.

There are couple of branch site where users are hosted on SBA and backup registrar pool is FEPool 1.

As part of migration process, we need to change the backup registrar pool of SBA in branch site to FE Pool 2. Could you please help me with the process?

As per my understanding, First I need to move all users from SBA Registrar pool to FE Pool 2, then change the Backup registrar pool of SBA in branch site  to FE Pool 2. Then move those users back to SBA Registrar pool.

Is there any way to change the backup registrar pool to FE Pool 2 without moving users or is there any other step which I missed?

certificate expired

Hello

I have a LyncServer 2013 Server, and I'm seeing alerts that the certificate will expire on 01/21/2019.

I made the procedure to renew the certificate, the renewal operation was completed successfully, and another certificate was generated, but with the same expiration on 01/21/2019.

I would like to know how I do it so that the maturity is for one year, that is 12/26/2019?

Hi, we currently block file transfers to external domains (allowed internally) from our on prem lync 2013 deployment.  My question is, is it possible to block all except for specific domains?

Lync Monitoring SQL Report formats

Hi,

is there any way to add new file formats to the monitoring SQL for Lync 2013?

For example I have to create User Registration monthly report from the Monitoring SQL server. I have to save this report with different file extensions: .csv, .xlsx, .docx.  Is there any way to add .doc file type into the current extension list? Our customer insist on this format, don't ask why...

Another thing, if I save the report in .docx, .xlsx format then everything is fine with that. If I save it in .csv the file is "blank". The full data is missing, only the following string can be see only in the file:

Exchange 2013 and Latest Lync Server

Hi,

I currently have 2 Exchange 2013 Servers (on Windows 2016) and 1 File Share Witness server in a DAG.

I've been task to implement the latest Lync Server (preferably) into my environment and was wondering what I need.

Here are my questions:

1. Will the latest Lync server (2016 presumably) work with Exchange 2013?

2. What steps/prerequisites do I need to take in order to introduce a Lync server (preferably the latest) in my environment and make it work?

Dialpad not working

I don`t know version of Lync I am using.

I could not see keypad when I click on voice call.

I am unable to place a call using DialPad in Lync.

Can you please help me that Issue.

SQL Query to find last logged on date

Below is the SQL query we run against our Lync 2013 SQL server to find last logged on time. We are in the process of a migration from Lync 2013 to SFB 2015 and I don't want to move anyone that hasn't logged in ever or has not logged in for months.

USE LcsCDR
SELECT dbo.Users.UserUri, dbo.UserStatistics.LastLogInTime
FROM dbo.UserStatistics
JOIN dbo.Users ON dbo.Users.UserId = dbo.UserStatistics.UserId
ORDER BY UserUri

Is there a way to include the Registrar Pool in this query? Reason I ask is this query returned some users that have already been migrated to SFB even though SFB uses a completely different SQL server.

Lync 2013 Server to SFB 2015 upgrade in place

Had to roll back an in place upgrade due to a problem with the SQL express instances on Lync 2013 server.  When trying to upgrade the DB's on the RTC LOCAL instance I get the below error.

The error is 15281, server blocked access to procedure dbo.sp_send_dbmail.  I can go ahead and enable that feature and then I get blocked by profile is invalid.  I can setup db mail and a profile and can submit and email via a script and it sends but still get the error around the invalid profile name, although the DB actually creates.  The problem is the Lync installer cannot handle the error so it quits in the process, and I would rather get the root cause of the issue.  Just want to be able to create a DB without a dependency on DB mail as this instance has no need for it.  I have a feeling the previous DBA has messed with this instance. The same error is generated by all 3 local EXPRESS instances.

Why would there be a dependency on these functions in order to create a DB??  Profiler has been of little use as it shows the CREATE DATABASE batch complete.

Any ideas??

有没有什么报表可以查看通话时间，比如国内电话的通话时长，国际长途的通话时长。

Monitor 报表里需要手动计算，而且每周都有好多通电话，user activiry report只能显示1000 行数据，太麻烦了，请问除了这种手动计算的方法，还有其他的方法吗？

Finding users that never logged on for a pool

I have been using the SQL query below to find users last logon time, but is there a way to find users that never logged on or to check if this field is blank in SQL?

skype for business product activation failed

Hi!

I've been using Skype a couple of years now and someone suggested to use the GTM (Go to meeting) menu. I updated my skype last night and see if its really on the menu tab, unfortunately it wasn't there. Since i'm not that familiar with the GTM, i search thru google and redirected me to download Skype for business app. This reminds me of the pop up message for free trial last year. I searched on the downloaded program and saw that i have an existing Skype for business 2015. I tried to open it and login, sadly it says product activation failed and skype for business couldn't find a skype for business server for gmail  . I tried to uninstalling but it cant be unsinstalled.  Any help matters. Thank you in advance

目前我们环境里面是这样的，SFB相关服务器加入的域都是abc.local,用户登录SFB的账号的后缀是abcd.cn的形式。

个人不是很理解域名的含义，比如上面的两个域，域名是abc，还是abc.local呢？

我们的AD域和SIP域好像不一样，请问怎么查看sip域？这两个域不一样，是怎么实现skype的部署和使用的
