Lync 2013 LWA is not working on Windows2008R2

$

Hi

I installed test Lync 2013 Server in one server configuration on Win2008R2

Everything is fine but LWA - error in IE:

HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden
The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.

After web search I've come across requirement of NET-WCF-HTTP-Activation45 for LWA when OS is Win2012

Is it true for Win2008R2? If so, is it sufficient to run add-windowsfeature NET-HTTP-Activation (because there is no NET-WCF-HTTP-Activation45 in psh console on Windows2008R2) only or I ought to reinstall Lync ?

Does Lync 2013 support Hyper-V Replica?

PowerPoints Sharing Is Not Working & Audio Video

I have successfuly deployed lync2013 but still some things are not working. Powerpoint sharing between users is not working (When I share a PowerPoint slide I receive a messge box saying "Sorry we couldn't upload .pptx because we're having trouble connecting to the service. If this keeps happening, try contacting your support team.

Another issue is when a user want to configure the audio device it says a yellow message "we didn't find an audio device, which you need for calling". I have verified the headphone is working with windows and for the other user as well. Can you please assist?

"The roles in the topology and the installed roles do not match. Run Bootstrapper to update the roles installed on this computer."

I am in the middle of migrating from Lync 2010 to 2013. I have defined my new pool in the topology and installed the local configuration store. I get an error after I run Step 2 - Setup or Remove Lync Server Components; "The roles in the topology and the installed roles do not match. Run Bootstrapper to update the roles installed on this computer". I've read other posts on this and advise to check the spelling of the FQDN - I can confirm this is correct. Obviously the CMS is still on the legacy Front End server but it should have the new FE FQDN after my topology was published. I ran this in a test environment a few weeks ago without any issue.

Has anyone else see this and can advise on what to try next? Is it advisable to deleted pool, re-publish and start again?

Forest Prep error Lync Server 2013 RTC Service already exists

We have been running OCS 2007 r2 for the past few years before that ocs 2007.  It all works but we want to migrate over to Lync 2013.

I am trying to set up Lync 2013 then move user over to the new front end server.

I run domain prep no problems everything replicates over.

Next I try forest prep but it fails because a group its trying to create already exists (due to my current ocs install).  We have one forest and one domain.

Here is the error:

I saw some post with the same problem but I didnt see a real solution posted.  I want to migrate to Lync 2013 without having to remove the currently working OCS 2007 R2.  I've also run into the same error when trying to migrate to Lync 2010.

Set-CsAddressBookConfiguration -IgnoreGenericRules

In the documentation for Lync 2013 - Migration from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013 - Phase 7: Complete Post-Migration Tasks - Migrate Address Book, it says to run Set-CsAddressBookConfiguration with -IgnoreGenericRules=$true.  It does not explain why (of course).  Anyone know why, especially since the documenation for this command says the default is IgnoreGenericRules=$false.

Lync 2013 Mobility continues to not work

Having issues getting mobility to work.

Simple environment:

Single server Edge pool

Single server EE pool

SQL clustered backend

All Lync 2013 CU1 at this point in time.

Potentially required reading:

Windows RT app uses the same method as IOS, and is more wiresharkable/tracable, so I am using that.

Client end errors:

Windows RT app (15.0.4481.1503) -  this client version cannot log in.

iOS - Can't sign in.  Please check your account information and try again.

I don't have a windows phone or android, so working with the clients I have.  (I understand these also do not work)

Fiddler trace of Windows RT app session:

 From the W3svc logs:

LyncImm is NOT a user agent listed in the CSCP - google "user agent" +lyncIMM turned up nothing.  Dead lead?

Lync connectivity analyzer shows it repeats the same webticket 401 over and over with:

msRTCSIP-UserRoutingGroupID - Wrong Hex Value

$

Hi All,

Have a Customer where I have deployed Lync 2013 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2008 R2, and the Lync 2013 client deployed to Windows 7 desktops.
Fresh install on 2013, no upgrade from Lync 2010 or anything else.

Getting the issue where the msRTCSIP-UserRoutingGroupID is wrong, and users can't sign in.

So I've queried AD and found the wrong value on user accounts, and replaced them with the right one and this fix works fine.

Problem is that the issue seems to re-occur intermittently on user accounts when they are enabled.

I'd like to know how this msRTCSIP-UserRoutingGroupID attribute is formed, as I've checked out the AD schema/configuration/naming context partitions, and can't see the hex value anywhere, or reference to how it is done from any searches on the internet.

Any help, as always, appreciated!
Cheers,

Hamish

Issues with External (Edge) Users Errors Attached

Above are the two errors I am seeing, the users are being dropped from their messaging. It appears that their connection is dropped with the client, they appear to be offline briefly when this happens. The Lync Server system error logs are not showing anything that corresponds with the times. Any ideas? Thanks

Lync 2013 Enterprise with SQL cluster

So I read that Lync 2013 doesn't support a SQL cluster for a new installation but it appears it supports it if you are migrating from 2010.

What i'm curious about is it looks like Microsoft is doing away with database mirroring after SQL 2012. So why did they make Lync require database mirroring for high availability?

Lync 2013 Address book not downloading for external clients

Hi,

I have a strange issue in Lync 2013 Environment,

Setup details are as follows:

1 Lync 2013 FE Server, 1 Lync 2013 Edge server. No Reverse proxy but the requests from ports are getting forwarded from 80 to 8080 and 443 to 4443 to the Front End Server.

Edge Server and Front End's External Website is assigned with a public Certificate from GoDaddy and FE's Internal website is assigned a Certificate from internal CA.

I earlier had mobility issues but it got resolved after installing July 2013 Cumulative updates.

Now the issue is that for External clients, Address book is getting updated. No galcontacts.db file is getting created for external clients. But for internal clients everything is working fine.

When i do Test-CSAddressbook service, for internal it is showing status as success. But when i add -External switch it is getting failed with the following error message.

No response received for Web-Ticket service.  Inner Exception:The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Ntlm'. The authentication header received from the server was 'NTLM'.Inner Exception:The remote server returned an error: (401)Unauthorized.

Also in the Front End server, i get this following warning:

I'm trying to move the cs management to the new lync server and went to back up first but this is the error I get.

I have checked to make sure my account has the right permissions.  I don't even care about e911.

Lync Server 2013 setup

I was beginning to setup up Lync Server on our server when I came across some comments that Lync can't be installed on the domain controller. At our office we only have one server and it is the domain controller. Does this mean that we would need an additional server in order to install and use lync server?

Planning for developers and 3:rd party systems

Hi!

We are in the planning process for our new Lync 2013 system. On of the questions that we got  is if we can provied an API for 3:rd party systems. With UCMA, do we need to add one UCMA server for each of the applications or is it possible to add a pool of many servers for systems and developers to use?

Greetings!

Our company is a GOLD MS partner. We have downloaded lync client 2013 x64 and x86 from Ms Partner portal.

A user has send me a print screen where he recieves a window with error:

MICROSOFT LYNC 2013
This copy of Microsoft Office is not activated
0x4004f00c

He is using Microsoft Office 2010 and he had install MS Lync 2013 client.

What's with this sudden activation error?
If I look for any serial keys on MS partner site, for Lync it saids no keys required.

Another Lync Front-End service won't start, stuck at Starting state!

Hi guys,

I know there are tons of these issues but I have read most of the threads but I can't solve the issue.

Windows Server 2012, Enterprise pool with 3 x Front-ends running latest updates.

The issue is that I can't get the windows fabric/quorum whatever to be happy and start the service on the front-ends.

Message keeps poping up:

---

Server startup is being delayed because fabric pool manager is initializing.

Cause: This is normal when Pool is bootstrapped and indicates that the Front-End is waiting for a quorum of other Front-Ends to be started.
Resolution:
If this event recurs persistently, ensure that 85% of the Front-Ends configured for this Pool are up and running. For 2 or 3 machine Pools, initial cold-start of the Pool requires all machines to be started. If multiple Front-Ends have been recently decommissioned, run Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState -ResetType QuorumLossRecovery to enable the Pool to recover from Quorum Loss and make progress.

---

---

Local Pool Manager has been disconnected from Pool Fabric Manager.

Cause: This may happen if many Front-Ends in the cluster have gone down or become unreachable, causing loss of quorum.
Resolution:
Ensure that a majority of the Front-Ends configured for this pool are up and running. If multiple Front-Ends have been recently decommissioned, run Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState -ResetType QuorumLossRecovery to enable the Pool to recover from Quorum Loss and make progress.

---

I have tried:

- Removed all certificates and issued new ones from the CA

- Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState -ResetType QuorumLossRecovery -poolfqdn lyncpool.company.com

- Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState -ResetType FullReset -poolfqdn lyncpool.company.com

- Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState -ResetType ServiceReset -poolfqdn lyncpool.company.com

- Powered off all front-ends and started them at the same time

- Removed all the front-ends and reinstalled them again

- Removed all the front-ends and the pool itself and reinstalled everything

- Looked into the thought that the certificates whas missplaced in the wrong storehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/2795828/en-us:

# Get-Childitem cert:\LocalMachine\root -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.Issuer -ne $_.Subject} | Format-List * | Out-File "c:\computer_filtered.txt", but the textfile was empty.

Im so frustrated and I have no ideas left. Can someone please guide me into the right direction? A few weeks ago I had an MS case where the engineer asked me to do all the stuff i just mentioned but in the end the same result. Service is stuck in starting state and Microsoft asked me if I would like to escalate this further but my customer said no.

Please advice!

Lync Push notification on Windows Phone doesn't seem to work

Hello everyone,

My colleague has a windows phone and I have an iPhone. I don't seem to have an issue with Lync push notification and get any missed call or IM however on Windows Phone it seems nothing is working with push notification.

How is it possible to troubleshoot this issue and see what's wrong with the configuration? what's the relevant configuration on the Lync server?

Thanks

Mohammed JH
