Skype for Business Edge unable to start service

$

0

Hi

we had a issue with our edge server so we rebuilt this with the same name as to use the same certificate.

I have assigned the external certificate and got the local certificate  for our CA server

now the edge service wont start up error:

"windows could not start the Skype for Business server Access Edge on Local Computer, For more information, review the Syetem Event Log, If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code - 2147014847"

Event log says:

"event Id 7024" "|The Skype for Business Service Access edge service terminated with the following service-specific error: the requested address is not valid in its context"

if anyone could shine some light on this I would be most grateful.

Regards

Dave

Hello,

I'm trying to get Lync mobility to work but haven't made any progress in the last three days. Lync is working properly internally and externally when using the Lync client. Just not working on iPads and iPhones externally. Below are the results from the Test-CsMcxP2PIM powershell command.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx

Lync integration with Tech Tools

Hey There,

Has anyone done any type of lync integration with tech tools likeJira, Jenkins, Datadog etc? It's pretty easy to do integration using Hipchat or Slack but there doesn't seem to be anything straight forward with Lync......!

I could find one paid connector for Lync and Jira integration but I really want to know how to go about any third party (specifically tech tools) integration using Lync?

I’ll appreciate if you could share your thoughts.

Skype for Business Call Quality Control Dashboard Install Problem

$
0
0

I've been trying to get the CQC Dashboard installed. It fails with a message "skype for business server 2015, call quality dashboard setup wizard ended prematurely".  I cannot find any install logs, etc.  I've started to install individual components and it fails on the Cube Setup.  The Archive did get installed.

I know it creates a bunch of folders in the %temp% directory but no log files.

How do I debug the setup?

WARNING - Skype for Business Server 2015 has a normalization/matching bug - problem for those with Exchange Auto Attendants

$
0
0

MS support has confirmed a bug in SfB that prevents proper normalization and matching on transfers from Exchange Auto Attendants.  Still working the case but wanted to warn others using Sip trunks so they hopefully avoid jumping into this problem.

If you have Exchange auto attendants (ours are Exchange 2013) and use menu navigation to transfer to SfB users and/or response groups, the SfB front end doesn't properly normalize and match numbers.  This causes calls that previously were matched and properly routed internally under Lync 2013 server to instead be passed back out to the sip trunk provider (that is, assuming you have a route set up for either Site or Global voice policies - if you only have user policies and don't have a user policy assigned to your ExUM contact for the AA, the transfer will just fail altogether with the "blind" transfer event log error).

Assuming that your users have publicly routable DIDs, then having a Global or Site voice policy with a route will allow AA transfers to such users to succeed, since the number will pass back out to the sip trunk provider and return right back to SfB and get routed (the normalization bug only appears to hit calls from AAs).

If however, like us, your response groups use fake numbers that only route internally (+12345556789 for example), these transfers will still fail because the sip trunk provider won't recognize the number and will 404 the call.

We are still working with support on figuring out:

1) a workaround for the RG issue - granting a voice policy and/or dial plan to the ExUM contact and RG object does not help

2) what it is that causes the SfB front end to behave differently than Lync 2013 frontends and fail to normalize and thus match the internal numbers

Will update as we learn more.

How do I add an AD attribute to my get-csuser filter?

$

Hello,

I'm trying to extract a list of users that are assigned to a few specific pools, and export that data to a CSV.

The info I need in the CSV are their names, pool they are assigned to, their distinguished name, and also the attribute called "CountryOrRegionDisplayName" which is visible by doing a get-csADuser cmdlet but not in the get-csuser cmdlet.

Here's what I have running, and it works great:

get-csuser -filter {
    registrarpool -eq "pool1.mydomain.com"-or
    registrarpool -eq "pool2.mydomain.com" -or
    registrarpool -eq "pool3.mydomain.com"} |
select samaccountname, firstname, lastname, registrarpool, distinguishedname |
export-csv biglist.csv -NoTypeInformation

Now the only thing I need is to include the country that the user is located in, which is contained in the Active Directory attribute "CountryOrRegionDisplayName" which is totally included in the get-csADuser cmdlet, but not get-csuser.

How could I add "CountryOrRegionDisplayName to the list of things I select?  As in something like the following, which obviously doesn't work:

select samaccountname, firstname, lastname, registrarpool, distinguishedname, countryorregiondisplayname |

I read a little about -ldapfilter but was confused if I could use that with get-csuser, or if I had to do a get-csaduser and try to pull Lync attributes, etc...

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Brandon

Event ID 56417- Failed to insert QoE to back-end

Hi,

I just saw that my Skype for Business server is not able to insert any data into QoE database.

I see the following in event log: (This log appeared right after upgrading to Skype4B)

Failed to insert QoE to back-end due to unexpected error.

Component: QoE Adaptor
Error: System.IO.InvalidDataException: Invalid input. MediaLine is null.
at Microsoft.Rtc.Server.UdcAdapters.QoE.PackReport.Pack(VQReportEventType report, LyncMessageDetails msgDetails, DBQoEReport dbReport)
   at Microsoft.Rtc.Server.UdcAdapters.QoE.QoEProcessor.ProcessQoEReport(ContentChunk content, LyncMessageDetails msgDetails)
   at Microsoft.Rtc.Server.UdcAdapters.QoE.QoEProcessor.ChooseMessageProcessor(LyncMessageDetails msgDetails)
   at Microsoft.Rtc.Server.UdcAdapters.QoE.QoEProcessor.ProcessQueueItems(LyssQueueItem queueItem)
Cause: an unexpected condition has resulted in the error.
Resolution:
Verify the back-end is up and this Skype for Business Server has connectivity to it. If the problem persists, notify your organization's support team with the relevant details.

Any idea what would be causing this?

Also, does anyone know which service is responsible for insertion of data into QoE databases? perhaps a restart of that service might work.

Update: The error has been appearing in Lync event logs for 6 days, only today the server actually failed to update the database.

After a reboot of the front end, it is able to insert the records again, but I still see the errors popping up. I guess it will be a matter of time before it actually fails to insert the records.

Command execution failed: The buffer supplied to a function was too small.

Hey there,

we are running a lync2010 standard deployment and want to migrate to lync 2013. The first server is up and ready and I want to assign the certificates. I created new one for the internal webservices by using "request certificates" - that adds all necessary SANs to the internal certificate. But as for my lync2010 server I guess I should use the public certificate sip.domain.xx for the external webservices. The certificate I use for lync2010 also contains the necessary SANs lync2010 asks for. But lync2013 seems to need some more

I get prompted:

WARNING: The subject alternative names "sip.domain.xx,Webconf.domain.xx,Lyncweb.domain.xx,Meet.domain.xx,owa.domain.xx,mail.domain.xx,autodiscover.domain.xx"
of the certificate "C6D1B3F51192ADC53F6C6DF2025F25578D43D331" do not contain the computed alternative names "meet.domain.xx,lyncweb.domain.xx,Lyncdiscover.domain.xx.

WARNING: Set-CSCertificate failed.

It seems, that two of those SANs are just written in capital letters and one (lyncdiscover) is missing. Do I need a new certificate? I guess I can't use a wildcard-certificate here (we also got a wildcard in our company).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best regards

Marcel

No more answer short cut for Lync/Skype4B?

Common Microsoft, what were you drinking this time around when you did the update???

Previously to answer a call one could use Win Logo + A as a shortcut. after this update it is no more ...........

It would have been okay if it was for regular users, but I have used it to create a system for receptionists in all my locations.

Does anyone know what is the replacement for answering calls shortcut?

Thanks,

Hi guys,

currently I'am in the process of deploying a new Lync 2013 Deployment.

During the setup we also updated all servers to the Lync 2013 May update.

After that we receive a lot of Windows Fabric errors with Event ID 18433 on our director servers

Fabric itself as a process is running. These errors are only seen on both of our 2 server Director Pool. The Front Server End Pool is working fine.

Using customer Clients on our Lync Server/Enterprise Voice installation - licensing

We currently use Office 365 with Lync Online/Skype For Business, and have a back-end legacy Asterisk-based conferencing system. We like Lync, and we want to extend it by implementing Lync Server, so we can SIP trunk to our Asterisk system from our Skype For Business clients. We'd also like to extend this to our customers - currently using PSTN to reach the Asterisk system - who are Skype For Business users. Effectively they'd be external clients on our Lync Server.

Is this possible, and what are the client licensing implications for our our customers?

EDge Servers Network Interface

We have Lync 2013 Front End Pool and Lync 2010 Edge server for federation. Recently we have deployed Lync 2013 Edge pool ( 2 servers) with F5 HLB and assigned public IP addresses on both interfaces as below. The same IP allocation ( public IPs on both interfaces and persistence route defined to Internal network) worked fine with Lync 2010 pool. However we are having problem with federation/remote access on Lync 2013.

As our security will not allow any Private IPs in DMZ, we cannot assign private IP in Internal facing NIC on Edge servers. As we are using F5 HLB, we assigned all public IPs on both NICs as well as F5 VIPs on both ends.

Is this workable solution or any remedies to make it work?
