Central Management Service Stuck Retrieving

$

One 2 out of the 3 front end servers, the central management store service is stuck in a retrieving state, so it shows a yellow exclamation point in the Topology section in the control panel.

If I do a "Get-CsWindowsService -ComputerName LyncServerName | Select-Object RoleName, Status" for each front end server, it looks like the central management service is only running on one out of the 3.  Is this expected?  Screenshots attached.

Lync on Blade Servers supported?

Hi All,

is it supported to deploy Lync 2013 Frontend Servers on Blade Servers?

The reason for the question is: the Blade Servers use a Converged Network Adapter. As far as I know this is shared between multiple blade Servers. For Frontend Servers, TechNet recommends dedicated network interfaces with teaming.

The Blade servers also share a SAN and boot from there. Is this supported?

Many Thanks in Advance,

Can't log in to Lync 2013 client via Cisco VPN client

All,

I have MS LYNC 2013 server (Standard edition FE). Windows Server 2012. There's no Edge server or any other server component in this design. We however have a functioning Office communicator 2005 environment running. We wanted to have both LYNC and Office Communicator running in parallel.

With Office communicator still running in the environment we didn't change the DNS (SRV) _sipinternaltls from point to the pool for office Communicator. I did create DNS host A records for the FE and lyncdiscover & lyncdiscoverinternal that ports to the FQDN of the FE server.

Now to the issue.

I can't sign in to the Lync 2013 client when connected to Cisco VPN. I can access other resources on the network. I can sign into office communicator without issue.

If I'm on the corporate LAN wired or wifi I can connect without issue. The error message I'm getting is Can't sign in to Lync :

There was a problem verifying the certificate from the server. I manual exported the certificate from Internal CA into the local "Trusted Root Certification Authorities". There's no prompts to trust the certificate.

Lync Server 2013 not properly updating Exchange-list-based Response Groups

We have an issue with our Exchange-list based RGs in Lync 2013 not getting updates properly.

For example, we have a response group Reception, which has ReceptionGroup@domain.com as its Exchange based membership group.

When I add user D to ReceptionGroup@domain.com, he shows up properly in Exch and in AD, but when I run Update-CSAddressBook (or wait for it to sync automatically), he never shows up in the RG list.  Running Get-CSRgsAgentGroup shows the same results - users A, B and C are in the group, but D is not.

When I run Update-CSAddressBook, I see several events indicating a successful User Replication, so I know it's at least attempting to process properly.

The only questionable event I see is this:

Event 30059

The older user are getting synchronized as part of current synchronization cycle for naming context DC=Domain,DC=org
Source of replication is: AddressBookReplication.
Resolution:
The issue should rectify itself in next synchronization cycle.

How can I narrow down where the disconnect is here?  Switching the group membership to 'Custom' works properly, but Exchange based memberships never seem to update correctly.

Hi Guys,

We're prepraing to upgrade our OCS 2007 to Lync 2013. On workstations we have installed Office2010 with OCS client and workstations with Office365 and OCS client.

We using this config to install Office365:

<Configuration>

  <Add SourcePath="here is the path" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
    <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
      <Language ID="pl-pl" />
 <Language ID="en-us" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
    </Product>

  </Add>
  <Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="here is the path />
  <Display Level="Full" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
  <Logging Level="Standard" Path="%temp%" />

  <!--Property Name="SharedComputerLicensing" Value="1" /> -->
  <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />
</Configuration>

Can I install only Lync 365 client? I created another xml file with config:

<Configuration>
  <Add SourcePath="here is the path" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
    <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
      <Language ID="pl-pl" />
 <Language ID="en-us" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Access" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="Excel" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="InfoPath" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="Word" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="Excel" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="OneNote" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="Powerpoint" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="Outlook" />
 <ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
    </Product>
  </Add>
  <Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="here is the path" />
  <Display Level="Full" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
  <Logging Level="Standard" Path="%temp%" />

  <!--Property Name="SharedComputerLicensing" Value="1" /> -->
  <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />

</Configuration>

But this uninstalled my Office365 on workstation.

Isolated Lync server deployment

Hi there,

I have an enterprise Lync 2013 environment in the US and another in the Philippines. I have them in the Topology as two different Sites under Lync Server (Los Angeles and Makati). Only the Los Angeles site has an Edge Pool.

I would like to put my local Makati Lync Client traffic on an isolated vlan that can only talk to the Makati Lync Server vlan, but still communicate to the Los Angeles Clients. Currently this works, but with IM only. However I would like to make it work with Audio, Video, and Desktop Sharing as well. Is such a thing possible? Or do the clients need point to point access to each other for more than just IM? Or do they need a local Makati Edge server for A/V?

Thanks for your responses,

Bogi Nasse

Lync 2013 DR

Hello All..........I am trying to build Lync 2013 HA and DR solution. Would appreciate if someone could guide me through it. I have following questions:

Site A would be primary site where users would reside and Site B would be DR Site where in case of failure users would get service from.

1.  How would HA be managed in Site A? through Enterprise Pool of FE Servers?

2.  How would DR be managed in Site B? by manually transferring load to FE Servers of Site B for internal users? what about external users?

3.  Can I setup SQL Cluster at both Site A and Site B for their respective FE Servers?  Is this good by design? Having Cluster as Backend Database?

4.  Do I need to configure mirroring among SQL Clusters between sites on the SQL level or CMS will take care of it?

5.  How would Edge servers be configured at both sites in this scenario?

I would appreciate if someone could share a link to a guide/tutorial/blog for step by step of it.  Thanks.

SQL permissions for Address Book updates?

Has anyone else run into problems running the Update-CSAddressbook command from their Lync 2013 FE server? Unless we give our Lync admin accounts explicit permissions to the RTCAB database, we get a SQL login error that the Lync admin account doesn't have access. If we run the command in a remote powershell window, it runs under the machine's account and runs just fine.

Lync 2013 SQL

Hello All...............Is it ok to have SQL Failover Cluster for HA in the Central Site and another SQL Failover Cluster for Site Resiliency in the DR Site with AOAG/Mirroring configured between them?

Would this work?

Is AOAG between two Failover Cluster (SQL) supported from Lync 2013 perspective?

Mobile connectivity failure

Hi guys,

I've been at this for over a week solid now and i'm getting absolutely nowhere so hopefully someone can help!

I have a FE, Edge & ARR 2.5 Reverse Proxy. each have Duel NICs (internal and DMZ).

Our firewall is set to route traffic on port 5061 to my edge server and HTTP/HTTPS traffic to the RP server with host entries on both.

https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ :
If i run the Lync Server Remote Connectivity Test, with the following settings
Use Autodiscover to detect server settings - Enabled.
Ignore Trust for SSL - Disabled.
Perform Audio/Video Server Connectivity Test - Enabled.
Everything comes back fine except for
http://i.imgur.com/ddx0WCY.png

But i believe this shouldn't be a problem?

If i run the Lync Autodiscover Web Service Remote Connectivity Test
It fails with the following.
http://i.imgur.com/6eLnkJS.png

If im connected to the internal WiFi and i try to connect with my Android using the auto detect feature. i get the Certificate warning/acknowledgement popup for internal certificate issued by my DC for the FE server but when i click continue, i get the error"We can't verify the certificate from the server. Please contact your support team".
If i connect to the external WiFi and connect i get the error "Unable to reach the server. Please verify your server address or try again later".

Please Help!!!

 Hi,

 I am in a porcess of moving servers from one data location to an other.

 This ar Windows 2012 and Windows 2012r2 servers.

 System involved are Exchange 2010, Lync 2013., SQL2008 .All servers are on VMWare.

 local network will be the same and the name of servers as well.

 External ip addresses wil change. So what do I need to do.

 1) I need to change licence and sid, but I think VMWare handles sid automaticly.

 2)Update dns for Lync and Exchange , mx and all.

3) Make sure that all ports are open.

4) Office and Office365

5) Lync provisioning??

6) Export all 3rd pary Certificates on current production system with private key.

Is there something missing ?

pls adv.

thanks

Lync 2013 voicemail journal options with Exchange 2013

I am looking to disable Lync voicemail from being pulled into Exchange journal.  This article (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201690(v=exchg.150).aspx) mentions using a one liner, that's great.  Several questions:

1. Since journaling is active at the transport layer, does this mean that all voicemail when being initially dropped into the Exchange mailbox goes through SMTP?

2. Is voice mail preview (speech to text) also governed by this same rule (ie will running the one liner also disable VMP from being journaled)

3.  I see this diagram (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123887(v=exchg.141).aspx) which is not as clear as it could be, any good resource on the exact flow of how voicemail ends up in user's mailbox?

Modifying the Lync 2013 meeting invitation

$

Is there any way to modify the meeting invite that comes up when you select New Meeting --> Lync Meeting in Outlook? If there is, can it be customized for different users?

We want to replace our Goto Meeting ID with Lync. We have partially integrated our phone system with Lync. Its not a full blown integration. I just set up a PSTN gateway on the Lync Mediation server and pointed it to our phone system gateway. Even though I enabled my Lync user for Enterprise Voice, I still only get the Join Lync Meeting URL in the invite.

We have about 10-15 users that want to invite external clients and have the ability for them to just dial into our meeting. We were successful in setting a block of numbers external users can call to get into a Lync meeting but short of having the Organizer type the number in the meeting request, is there a better way to get the number to show up in the meeting invite. Each one of the 15 users will have a different number.

I have some experience with Lync but when it comes to telephony integration, I know next to nothing.

We have an internal hosted Standard Edition Front End/Edge server are trying to connect to Office 365 users but always get this errors. We've tried direct federation and federation providers with Lync online but it doesn't help. I'm afraid the error message is not clear to us - can someone please explain what this relates to:

Meeting URLs

If an organisation has a Lync 2013 Hybrid (Lync 2013 server on prem integrated with Lync online) implmentation will the meeting URL for users in Office 365 be meet.lync.com/xxxx or will it be the same as the users on premise meet.contoso.com/xxxx ?

ie- within a Lync hybrid solution, will there be two sets of meeting URL's depending on whether users are online or on prem? (Office 365 URL for Lync online users and on prem URL for on prem users)

Thanks
