Hello All............What would be steps to do the following:
1. Creating a Frontend Enterprise Pool of Three-3 Servers?
2. Creating an Edge Pool of Two-2 Servers? Can we use Standard for Edge Pool that will be connected to Enterprise Pool?
3. Configuring two Reverse Proxies for failover?
Any links would be appreciated; thanks in advance.
Hello All...........Which roles of Lync Server 2013 and it related components (Reverse Proxy) can be managed through hardware load balancers?
I am confused with respect to DNS Load Balancing and Hardware Load Balancing. I have read that at on some components DNS Load Balancing can work, but some component can only provide Load Balancing if there is Hardware Load Balancer. So, I would appreciate if someone could list me components and their respective supported load balancing method such as
Lync FE DNS/HLB
Lync Edge HLB
OWAS WINDOWS NLB/HLB
and so on........
Thanks in advance.
Our mobile clients that were previously working fine are no longer able to sign in to Lync 2013 with "Can't connect to the server messages"
Relevant factors I think are:
- This issue seems to have come up immediately after the latest round of windows updates
- Another symptom is a lot of Webhost errors on the front end server which also appeared just after updates
WebHost failed to process a request.

Hello all,
I have a complete Lync 2013 topology in production : 1 principal site (where the lync server and his dedicated AD are installed) and 4 remote sites (all the remote sites have its SBA).
However, we always had Lync Client connexion problems : some users on a same PC can connect to the client but others can’t, and I don’t know why (neither how to troubleshoot this…).
I tried with Lync Connectivity Analyzer, even it’s for mobility client I guess, and the behavior is the same : users who can’t connect to Lync display the same message :
- “You didn’t get signed in. It might be your sign-in address or logon credentials, so try those again. If that doesn’t work, contact your support team.” On Lync Clients (while I’m sure of the IDs, I’ve tried with a new account and is the same…).
- “Server discovery failed for secured channel against https://WSLSFE01.oli-pc.local/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root”
“The credentials were not authorized by the server. Please verify your login credentials and try again.” On Microsoft Lync Connectivity Analyzer
Incredibly, I tried the same with another account and it works good! (an account in the same OU in the same AD of the same domain…).
The account seems to be activated on the Lync Server :
PS C:\Users\administrateur.OLI-PC> Get-CsUser -Identity "Dorianne Duluc" Identity : CN=Dorianne DULUC,OU=CMA16,OU=OLI-PC,DC=OLI-PC,DC=local VoicePolicy : VoiceRoutingPolicy : ConferencingPolicy : PresencePolicy : DialPlan : LocationPolicy : ClientPolicy : ClientVersionPolicy : ArchivingPolicy : ExchangeArchivingPolicy : Uninitialized PinPolicy : ExternalAccessPolicy : MobilityPolicy : PersistentChatPolicy : UserServicesPolicy : HostedVoiceMail : HostedVoicemailPolicy : HostingProvider : SRV: RegistrarPool : wslsfe01.oli-pc.local Enabled : True SipAddress : sip:d.duluc@uh-threethree.fr LineURI : tel:2085 EnterpriseVoiceEnabled : True ExUmEnabled : True HomeServer : CN=Lc Services,CN=Microsoft,CN=1:1,CN=Pools,CN=RTC Se rvice,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=OLI-PC,DC=local DisplayName : Dorianne DULUC SamAccountName : dduluc
|
And this one can connect to Lync :
PS C:\Users\administrateur.OLI-PC> Get-CsUser -Identity "Jean Cartier" Identity : CN=CARTIER Jean,OU=CMA16,OU=OLI-PC,DC=OLI-PC,DC=local VoicePolicy : VoiceRoutingPolicy : ConferencingPolicy : PresencePolicy : DialPlan : LocationPolicy : ClientPolicy : ClientVersionPolicy : ArchivingPolicy : ExchangeArchivingPolicy : Uninitialized PinPolicy : ExternalAccessPolicy : MobilityPolicy : PersistentChatPolicy : UserServicesPolicy : HostedVoiceMail : HostedVoicemailPolicy : HostingProvider : SRV: RegistrarPool : wslsfe01.oli-pc.local Enabled : True SipAddress : sip:j.cartier@uh-threethree.fr LineURI : tel:2034 EnterpriseVoiceEnabled : True ExUmEnabled : True HomeServer : CN=Lc Services,CN=Microsoft,CN=1:1,CN=Pools,CN=RTC Se rvice,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=OLI-PC,DC=local DisplayName : Jean CARTIER SamAccountName : jcartier
|
I think it’s a problem about certificates, but I’m not sure…
I compared the attributes (proxyaddresses, samAccountName…) of two AD accounts (one who can connect to Lync, and other one who can’t) and they follow the same logic of values…
I can ping the Lync Server fqdn from client PC.

Does anyone meet similar problem and help me please ?
Hi,
In our AD domain the group CSUserAdministrator is a member of the default group Account Operators.
This causes some issues since Account Operators is a 'protected group' and the users I add to CSUserAdministrator will be protected.
It was a long time since Lync was installed and I am not sure if CSUserAdministrator gets added to Account Operators during the Lync installation or if this is a change that was made by hand later on.
Could anyone help me check if it is Lync that placed CSUserAdministrator in Account Operators?
If that is the case I guess it have to be there for a reason.
Would it then make sense to create a new Admin Role based on CSUserAdministrator and add my users to that role instead?
Regards Erik
Hi
Two virtual servers one for dc one for fe, both have been rebuilt, went to install lync again and the topology builder fails
"sql server store xxxxx.home.local\rtc is not defind in the topology. you must ensure sql server store that is used for CMS is part of the defined topology and that the sql server store is associated with front end pool"
on this 2nd install on clean machines I have used different IP address, different domain " gold.local" I never once entered the old name.
Any help pls.

I've removed a user from Skype for Business, yet this user is still searchable from the Skype For Business Client, displayed with an 'unknown' presence. This user's account needs to remain active in Active Directory, and searchable within Exchange 2013, which is what is complicating this issue, I suspect. We've recently upgraded from Lync Server 2013, and I don't see an equivalent to the ABSConfig.exe utility, which can be used to modify user attributes. I also do not see the msRTCSIP-GroupingID attribute, which would allow segregation of the user into a new Skype for Business Address book (essentially hiding them), for any user object in AD.
I've removed the account using the Skype for Business control panel, updated the address book on the Skype for Business server, and also removed the local SIP profile from my client. Unfortunately, the user account remains searchable.
any assistance welcomed.
Hi,
We have LYNC 2013 installed on-premises. We have a third party vendor that provide some of the IT related support. They need to be able to use Lync to provide support to internal users. What would be the best option to achieve this?
We have thought about two options:
1) Have a virtual machine running at vendor site with site-to-site VPN configured. Have Lync installed on the VM. However this may not work as the VM is not part of the internal domain
2) Have a virtual machine running at our site , vendor RDP onto the machine and use Lync. The concern is that Lync 2013 client won't work properly under RDP connection and would still face the same audio/video quality issue due to a VPN connection required for the RDP.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Winnie
Dear all,
Thank in advance.
Hello All............Have following questions:
1. In a two-2 site scenario where one is Primary Site and other is DR Site, is it possible to pair the two-2 sites together and perform the failover and failback manually? if so, how? How the external and internal DNS Records would be managed for it?
2. What is best suited in a Primary Site and DR Site scenario? Manual Failover/Failback or Automatic? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?
Hello All..........I am basically in a fix deciding about Lync 2013 On-Premise and Office 365.
1. Can someone share any questionnaire which can make me understand what would be best suited for my requirements. Any link to blog/article would also be appreciated.
2. Would also appreciate if there is any questionnaire for Lync On-Premise when designing a solution based on Lync Server 2013.
Thanks in advance.
Hey
I like to get understand one thing.
Lync KHI Excel is stating the followings :
Performance counter: \LS:Usrv - DBStore\Usrv - Queue Latency (msec)
Description: The average time a request is held in the request queue to RTCDyn database
Performance counter: \LS:Usrv - REGDBStore\Usrv - Queue Latency (msec)
Description: The average time a request is held in the request queue to RTC database
Performance counter: \LS:Usrv - SharedDBStore\Usrv - Queue Latency (msec)
Description: The average time a request is held in the request queue to RTCShared database
But e.g. the
Lync virtualization whitepaper stating about the counter: \LS:Usrv - DBStore\Usrv - Queue Latency (msec):
Queue latency is the amount of time (in milliseconds) that it takes for a request to leave the Front End Server’s queue toward the back-end database.
So what are the actual differences between DBStore, REGDBStore and SharedDBStore. And what they are measuring?
We all know the RTCDyn is on the Front End, RTC is on the Front End and RTCShared is on the Back End.
To which information I can trust?
Petri

When trying to set the PIN for a common area phone, I came across the error "No available servers to connect to". Everything else appears to be working fine. I can set the PIN for users in the control panel, but this power shell command won't work.
This is a Lync 2013 Standard edition single Front End server running Jan 2014 CU4. Anyone know how this can be resolved?
