Hi Experts,

We've a customer who has the below environment:

Environment
============

1 Enterprise pool with 3 Front end servers.

2 SQL servers with SQl Cluster.

1 Edge pool with 2 edge servers.

2 Reverse proxy servers (IIS-ARR)

2 WAC roles.

File share - DFSR clusters

Total users : 16,000

Questions
==========
1. How to size and deploy persistent chat role for this environment (16,000)?
2. How to amend the table on this article (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg615006(v=ocs.14).aspx) based on this environment?

This article is not 100 % helpful to design and deploy persistent chat servers for this environment. Please assist.

Many thanks.

Users unable to search for contacts, client stuck "searching"

I tested Lync 2013 on about twenty users for a period of about a month with no issues.  Then I deployed to the company (about 150 Lync users) and everything was fine as well.  Users were able to add contacts for about the first day.  Now suddenly, there are some users unable to add contacts.  When they go to search, they receive this screen:

Putting in the FQDN SIP address works for everyone at all times, but that's not feasible for obvious reasons.  I have done a lot of searching around and came across the test-csaddressbookservice cmdlet.  I ran this and received this output:

Result        : Failure
Latency       : 00:00:00
Error Message : No response received for Web-Ticket service.
                Inner Exception:Keyset does not exist

Diagnosis     :

Searching that error message brings up a lot of external stuff, but these are internal users.  I've checked IIS and the certs all seem to be working fine.

I am at a loss at this point.  Does anyone know why my users are unable to search?

Thanks for any help.

Hello All................Is it possible to move CMS from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013 even when only few users are migrated to 2013 and 1000s still on lync 2010? Do we need downtime for it?

Primary and DR Site Introduction Question

Hello All............When caught up in the situation where you are doing migration from 2010 to 2013 and some of the users are also moved into the new 2013 environment and you need to introduce DR Site as well, what would be best approach to test out the DR Site first before moving users or continue with the user migration to 2013 and once they are done, move other resources to 2013 as well and cut off from 2010 completely and then after all is ready at 2013 move with the DR Site pairing, configuration and testing?

Migration Questions from 2010 to 2013

Hello All..............I need to understand few things with regards post-migration tasks:

1.  For Dial-in Access and Call Park, I am only seeing pools based on 2010, I am unable to see the 2013 pool? is this normal? can I move dial-in access and call park before user migration (or some users migration) as well? is there any down time required?

2. For Response Group, I do not see any Workflow, Queue or Group in 2010, so I should leave it be and skip the step on the migration?

3.  For Address Book, do I need to migrate the address book to 2013? is it necessary?

4.  For Meeting Page, do I need to migrate that too? is it necessary?

5.  For Common Area Phone, I do not see any Phones with any of the pools.  I have confirmed from cmdlet as well as the tool made by Anthony Caragol, there is not any phone configured.  But, customer states that they are using phones with lync.  is it possible to use phones (desk) with lync without them being common area phones? how can I verify this?

6.  For Analog Devices,  I do not see any Phones with any of the pools.  I have confirmed from cmdlet, there is not any phone configured.  But, customer states that they are using phones with lync.  is it possible to use phones (desk) with lync without them being listed anywhere in the console or management shell? how can I verify this?

Lync Citrix users always asked for Credentails expanding addressbook

Hi,

I recently updated my Lync to the latest update. After that I had problem with Lync users on Citrix. I was using wild Card certificate on reverse proxy and Fe. After the update Citrix users were not able to expand Group. I got a new Go Daddy certificate and intalled it, but always when user tryes to expand Group user is asked for credentials and Lync will not accept his credentials.

I can look for a person eith no problem, and there are 5 people WHO can not log on to Lync it could be the same problem because they are logged in to the Citrix server. This Group expansion is working fine on Lync mobile and PC's

any ideas.

thanks

Lync 2013 - OWA Integration in Paired Pool Scenario

$

I am planning for Lync 2013 deployment in lab, and have 2 front end pools (in separate sites, Site A and Site B) set up with pool pairing and working ok. I also have Exchange 2013 set up in lab and have set up OWA integration and that's working OK. However after a pool failover for Site A the OWA integration breaks because the trusted application pool in Lync topology for OWA is configured for Site A. Is there a way to get this working automatically (i.e. apart from manually changing trusted pool configuration)? Thanks.

Hi Team

I am having DC site and DR site. Each Site is having 3 front End servers, 2 SQL servers with mirroring, 2 web app servers and one edge server

I have configured Site Resiliency. All the features is working fine. Replication is not happening between DC and DR.

In Lync control panel Lync DR server’s status as ‘Retrieving’ & Replication as ‘red cross’

When I check the services in DR front servers, following services are not showing in the services

a). Backup service b). File Transfer Agent service   c). Master Replication Agent services

When I manually tried to run the backup service its not installing, even I tried to run the following command to install backup service, which I used to install in DC front end server.

“Get-CsWindowsService –Name LYNCBACKUP”

When I check backup service status in DC front end server using the following command

“Get-CsBackupServiceStatus” its showing the following result

OverallExportStatus – Steady State

OverallImportStatus – Error State

Please help me to resolve the issue . .

Lync 2010 Mobile Client + IOS 9 = Prompt to Install Lync?

If the user has Lync 2010 installed (we have a 2010 infrastructure), opens the calendar and clicks on the Join Skype Meeting URL, they are prompted to install the Lync client.  Prior to IOS 9, this same action caused the local Lync client to open for the meeting.  User can connect to the meeting from inside the Lync 2010 client just fine.  Did something change?

Migrating Mediation Server

Hello All..........How can we migrate Mediation Servers from 2010 to 2013?  Do we just have to add the role in the new 2013 Pool and add the SIP Trunks which are defined in the 2010 Pool and change the Pointing of Pool to 2013 on all those Devices? Would this do the job?  Is this all SIP Trunk Migration needs?  Anything else required? How would Dial Plans, Voice Policies, etc. would migrate?

Lync Server 2010 to 2013 Migration

Hello All,

I am to migrate Lync 2010 Infrastructure into Lync 2013 so would appreciate if someone could guide me how to go about it.  I am aware of the process which his described in TechNet, but there is little complexity at my end with respect to the new Infrastructure where there would be two sites where one would be primary site providing HA and the other site would be providing DR.  The TechNet guide is more of a single server to single server, so would appreciate if someone could guide as to how one can migrate Lync 2010 HA and DR Infrastructure to Lync 2013?  Any link to blog/article/stepbystep would also be appreciated.  Thanks.
