Lync Trial Version Ended?

$

How does one know if the 180-day trial version has expired on their Lync 2013 server? I am pretty sure ours has but I am seeing no messages at all. All I see is that the Front End service has stopped yet all the other Lync services are running.

We are looking to purchase the license but it is still going to be 1 1/2 months out. Anybody know if one can get an extension of the trial license for a few more months?

And lastly, once a license is purchased, how does one apply the license to their environment?

Thx!

Skype for business Server 2015 Communication with office 365 SFB users

I have a Hybrid install of Skype for Business server 2015, with a SAN certificate on my edge server. My issue is that users that exist online can send messages to users on-premises, but users on premises cannot send messages or see the presence of users that resides online. I have included my edge external FQDN "sip.mydomain.co.za" in the office 365 SFB external Federation domains. I have used the "https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com" tool to check for certification errors but all returned OK.  Any suggestions? Thanks

Media Bypass enabled on SIP trunk, yet "Media Bypass Call = false"

In troubleshooting conference audio issues, I’ve been scouring through media quality reports (focusing on the A/V portion).   I’m noticing that “Media Bypass Call” always = false (ie – Lync to PSTN call, I understand PSTN users dialing into a conference cannot use bypass)

In our trunk config, “enable media bypass” is enabled.  EnableReferSupport parameter is set to False and RTCPActiveCalls and RTCPCallsOnHold are set to False.  Under “Global” in Network config “Enable Media Bypass” is “enabled” – HOWEVER, it is set to “Use sites and region config” instead of “Always bypass”.  The interesting part is – we have no config in “Sites” or “Region”.

If I’m understanding correctly, this in essence makes it so media bypass never happens?

Cannot add 3rd participant on Skype for Business (An error occured)

Hi all,

Recently i migrated from Lync Server 2013 FE Standard to SFB 2015 Standard.

The legacy server has not been decommission (still in topology) except for the edge server, already use new one.

The status now is we're ready for decommisioned, has moved conferencing directory to new Front End too.

But i've just realized that when my user open group conversation, add the 3rd person, an error occured on Skype for Business client. It happen the same when the user share desktop to another user, and then add the 3rd person too join, an error occured. I search on some forum saying that it is because the conferencing directory is located on legacy front end that has been removed inproperly.

In my case, the legacy server is still there, and the conferencing directory is already on new server.

Any advice? Thanks.

When I open the Lync Server Management Shell and try the following script:

Set-CSClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true

I get the following error:

A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'EnableSkypeUI'

Additionally if I type:

Get-CSClientPolicy -Identity Global | Select Identity, EnableSkypeUI | fl

I get:

Identity: Global

Enableskypeui:

(the EnableSkypeui: field is blank)

I am running Lync Server 2013 on a Windows 2012 R2 server with all of the latest updates. Any recommendations?

Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Front End Server installation for Standard - Error Code 1603

Well, Typical Microsoft Errors... I have searched all over and can't seem the find the issue. I know and have confirmed that the Microsoft Identity Extensions are installed and are working. The MicrosoftIdentityExtensions.msi is also installed. I have passed all rerequisites and all looks good up until this point. My Topology was pushed out sucessfully and all  seems good but I can't seem to figure out this issue. I am creating a Stand Alone Lync Server for the IM/Chat feature. I am running the Lync Server 2013 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and it is a VM with the undated VM tools. I have all patches and updates on the server.

Any help would be great.

My Error:

Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Front End Server installation requires that Microsoft Identity Extensions is already installed. Either use Setup.exe for installation or run MicrosoftIdentityExtensions.msi included with the product to install the redistributable.failure code 1603

Error returned while installing Server.msi(Feature_Server), code 1603. Please consult log at C:\Users\administrator.LTF\AppData\Local\Temp\2\Add-Server.msi-Feature_Server-[2014_04_29][11_32_57].log

Cannot complete Lync2013 integration because autodiscover/metadata/json/1 does not exist

$

Hello,

I am trying to setup integration between Microsoft Lync 2013 Server and Exchange 2013 Server so that in OWA you can see presence information and also use Instant Messaging.

I am able to complete all the steps except for the following line on the Lync server:

New-CsPartnerApplication -Identity Exchange -ApplicationTrustLevel Full -MetadataUrl "https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/metadata/json/1"

I am getting an error that its not found:

New-CsPartnerApplication : Cannot bind parameter 'MetadataUrl' to the target. Exception setting "MetadataUrl": "The
metadata document could not be downloaded from the URL in the MetadataUrl parameter or downloaded data is not a valid
metadata document, error: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."

Now I've already followed THIS thread: http://blogs.technet.com/b/jenstr/archive/2012/11/22/getting-internal-server-error-500-when-creating-new-cspartnerapplication-for-exchange-2013.aspx  But that did not help me at all.  Nor should it because that particular thread is a procedure to remedy an error 500.  Remember I am getting an error 404.

I can validate that the path to /autodiscover/metadata/json/1 does not exist because I get a 404 in any web browser that I attempt to access this path.  Also in IIS Manager on Exchange I do not even see a metadata folder.  IIS has been reset and also the server has been rebooted as of 7:40 AM EST today and the issue persists.

I am not sure what goes in that location but I would be willing to accept if someone else would upload their metadata/json/1 file on SkyDrive and I could put it at this location.

Otherwise Autodiscover service appears to be working as Outlook and Lync clients do not pose an error.  Testing e-mail autodiscover returns correct values and the paths /autodiscover/Autodiscover.svc and also autodiscover/autodiscover.xml are both reachable in a web browser.

Enable Lync for Users in Another Domain

$

Hi team

My organization is having Lync enterprise edition. We want to enable Lync for some users , but users should not login into domain machine using that credentials, but they can login to Lync client. For this purpose we planned to create a Tree domain and enable Lync for this domain users.

Root Domain - ABC.co.in

Tree Domain - XYZ.com same forest

Following Steps been Done

1. Build a Tree Domain XYZ.com ( Opened Ports between ABC.co.in & XYZ.com . Also opened Tcp ports 389 and 3268 from this       domain to Lync servers )

2.  Added Sip Domain in Topology. ( After publishing the topology i am able to enable users for both domains )

3. In XYZ.com domain we created some new users. ( Eg: test user1 , test user2 )

Issue

When trying to enable for Lync for XYZ.com domain users , Not able to find the XYZ.com users in the Search.

Please suggest how to solve the issue.

Also suggest is there any other way to restrict Lync users to Login to domain machines,if user is in  ABC.co.in domain.

Lync 2013 web client - no whiteboard, file attachment, poll

$

Hi

I am testing internal to external Lync 2013.  Internal using the skype for business desktop client and externall using internet explorer and the Lync Web App.

If i share my desktop or a program internally, the internal desktop clients get it, and the external web app gets it, so that works.

If i present the whiteboard, a poll or share a file attachment, the internal desktop clients get it, but the Lync Web App doesn't.  If i click on the present icon, it says "No one is presenting". "Manage Presentable Content" is greyed out but I imagine this is because only the presenter can share. If I click attachments it is empty.  "Manage Attachments" is greyed out, again i imagine because only the presenter can share.

Video and audio and chat works between the mobile app and mobile app to internal desktop clients.

Any ideas?

OWA Integration not working with Exchange 2013 and Lync 2013 (with UCS enabled)

$

Hi guys,

I have a system landscape that was migrated from Windows 2008 R2 (as AD) with Exchange 2010 and existing Lync 2013 Installation. Lync Integration with OWA was working fine in that configuration.

After the AD was migrated to Windows 2012 R2 and Exchange was migrated to 2013, there are some problems with OWA Integration for users hat have UCS enabled (that is my guess). All Systems are installed in german language.

For testing I created a new user in AD, Exchange and Lync and I can use Lync in OWA without any problems.
But when I log in to Lync Rich-Client with that user, after a few minutes I got logged off and on again (because there were some changes in my contact list; the UCS enablement, I guess) -> after that the Default Contact Group in Lync is named "Other contacts" (was "Andere Kontakte" before) and I cannot login for Lync with that user in OWA anymore (this is reproducible; delete user from Lync, delete contact list in Outlook, try again).

However I can still login with users that have never used Lync 2013 Rich-Client (i.e. Domain-Administrator), so it is not a General Lync-OWA-Integration problem.

I did some testing, but I am not able to find a solution.

When I enable UCMA-Tracing with OCSTracer I get the following error message:

(sorry, don't know how to get the output in english)

However I also get the above error 480 also for the Domain Administrator user (which has never started Lync 2013 and should not have UCS enabled?).

Any ideas on this?

Cannot return Get-CsUser object using SamAccountName if user is disabled in AD but is enabled in Lync2013

When using Get-CsUserSamAccountName on a user who is disabled in AD but still enabled in Lync2013 I get:
Management object not found for identity "SamAccountName".

However, if I use Get-CsUser DistinguishedName it does return the CsUser object.

Just curious to why this would be.

Lync Server 2013 NTLM Level Support

$

All,

can someone tell what NTLM level is supported on Lync 2013 servers?
A customer of mine would like to configure a GPO for all Lync Servers (Windows 2012 R2) in our topology, forcing the servers to NTLM Level 5:

Level 5: Send NTLM v2 response only\Refuse LM &NTLM

Send NTLMv2 response only\refuse LM & NTLMv1: Clients use NTLMv2 authentication only and use NTLMv2 session security
if the server supports it; domain controllers refuse LM and NTLMv1

Many thanks in advance,
Hanno98
