Lync 2013 remote connectivity analyzer version

$

hello,

I am looking for the connectivity analyzer from this article

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj907302.aspx

the one from the download link does not offer the functionality described by the version in this article,

specifically

If Lync Mobile 2010 App is selected under Client, Lync Connectivity Analyzer does the following:

  • Verifies that the WebTicket service is available and tests authentication of the Lync account credentials.
  • Verifies that the Mobility (MCX) service is available.

If Lync Mobile 2013 App is selected under Client, Lync Connectivity Analyzer does the following:

  • Verifies that the WebTicket service is available and tests authentication of the Lync account credentials.
  • Verifies that the Mobility (UCWA) service is available.

The version in the download does not even have a client dropdown nor look like the screenshot in this article but a dropdown with only 2 options store app or mobile

I am trying to test ucwa 2013 mobility

many thanks

External URL and dns records for UCWA mobility client

Hi,

Can I confirm where DNS records point for lync 2013 mobility on the external

currently we have

lyncdiscover.contoso.com and lyncext.contoso.com pointing to the reverse proxy (discovery and webservices external url)

and

sip.contoso.com and the other simple urls like meet.contoso.com pointing to the edge

would this be correct?

Thanks

The rigth order in multitenant setup: Lync 2013 or Exchange 2013 first?

Hi,

There is no forum for multitenant deployment, I hope here is the right place. I want to set up a Lync 2013 multitenant platform, and the Multitenant Pack for Partner Hosting Deployment Guide sure is a valuable resource. However, it says nothing about integration with Exchange 2013 multitenant, which I also want to achieve.

So here's the question: which is the right order? First installing Lync 2013 Multitenant Pack and then Exchange 2013, or the other way around? Or does it matter?

In more details, Lync installs a root OU (OCS Tenant) which I intend to use as root OU for Exchange 2013 multitenant. But both products modifies heavily Active Directory, and I am concerned about the right order.

Please advise.

Thank you,

Marius

Lync 2013 Audio / Video Issues

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 running on a Lenovo T430.  I have problems with it seeing Audio / Video devices. When I go in to Tools > Options > Audio Options or Video Options I get a message "We didn't find an audio device, which you need for calling". I get the same for Video.

If I use Lync 2010 it works fine! I've checked the audio endpoint service is running.

Thanks

Mark

Lync 2013 Mobility/Meet/Dialin All Returning 401 Errors

$

Hello everyone! Hopefully someone can help me figure this one out because I'm starting to go bald from it.

Set up:

All Server 2012, all Lync 2013 with latest CU/updates.

1 Frontend - lfe1.lync.local - Pool is also set up to allow future HA/capacity - lfep1.lync.local

1 Director - ldr1.lync.local - Pool is also set up to allow future HA/capacity - ldrp1.lync.local

ARR 2.5 on IIS8 with all available hotfixes applied acting as reverse proxy for Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013.

There is NO INTERNAL ACCESS to Lync whatsoever, as this is a Lync Hosting Pack deployment. However, all the necessary internal DNS records are created, even though they're useless. There is ONLY external access to this environment.

Lyncdiscover is working fine, returns the XML, I can manually browse and get the XML and it's reflected in the mobile client logs. However, if I browse to the url returned in the XML (https://ldrp1.hostingco.com/autodiscover/autodiscoverservice.svc/root/user?originaldomain=tenant.com) I get a 401 unauthorized due to invalid credentials. Same goes for browsing the web services URL https://lfep1.hostingco.com/ucwa/v1/applications - met with 401 invalid credentials. This is the same if I browse locally, directly to each server in IE, completely bypassing the ARR reverse proxy.

I've verified that Get-CsWebServicesConfiguration UseWindowsAuth is set to 'Negotiate' and I've verified that Get-CsMcxConfiguration ExposedWebUrl is set to 'External'. No cert errors, those are all good and clear.

I'm completely at a loss here. I have no idea where else to look, I've gone through every post I could find related to Lync 2013 and mobility, getting 401 and even 403 errors. This is happening on iOS, Android, and Windows devices.

Here are mobile logs (I skipped the autodiscover process because there's just a bunch of trying HTTPS and failing, HTTP works, redirects, and that is by design as per Lync Hosting Pack guidelines):

No contacts in Lync 2013 client and not appearing in others contact lists

Hello all,

I hope someone might be able to help out with this problem, I've been at it for weeks with no luck. I've migrated from Lync 2010 to 2013. All users have been successfully migrated and everything is working for them, except for one user (which i me unfortunately). When I sign into Lync from any device (desktop, laptop, windows phone, iphone) I do not see any contacts in my organization, but I can find any of the contacts if i search for them. I also don't appear in anyone else's contact list, but they can find me if they search.

I have tried disabling and removing my account from Lync server, uninstalling and reinstalling the Lync client on my machine, cleaning up all the Lync folders and registry keys on my machine. Nothing seems to get me any closer to getting this fixed.

I did find a discussion here that is exactly the problem I'm having, but I don'e see a solution there either.

Has anyone else seen this before? Any suggestions or ideas would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

DHCPUtil.exe & MSVCR110.dll

Hey, everyone!

Trying to get DHCP setup for some Polycom handsets and so I attempted to run the DHCPUtil script from Lync Server 2013.

I copied DHCPUtil.exe and DHCPConfigScript.bat from my Lync Server into the C Drive on my Domain Controller, which also is handling DHCP. I then launched a command prompt with "Run as Administrator," navigated to the folder with the script and entered

DHCPUtil.exe -SipServer <mySipAddress>

I keep getting an error, though:

The program can't start because MSVCP110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

So I googled about the error and someone said to copy MSVCP110.dll from the Lync Setup directory. I did that, but I'm not sure what to do now. I copied it into the same folder the script is in, but it still doesn't run.

Can someone help me?

Thanks!

Hi Guys,

I am deploying Edge services on my Lync Deployment now i am using the Single External NAT IP for the Access Edge Services, Web Conferencing, and Audio/Video Edge Services.  How many Subject Alternative Name do i have to certified? Can i just Use One Single Standard SSL for this type of deployment?

Thanks hope you can help with this.

Any way to view number of installed clients?

We recently started deploying the Lync 2013 client and would like to view which machines and/or users have it installed. We've enabled all users in Lync, so we can't really just go by that anymore.

Our client installation is automatic through a startup script, but we're not sure how many people have gotten it yet or not. We also do not have System Center (yet!), so that won't work either.

Any suggestions? Or is this just not possible?

Thanks ahead of time!

ios webticket errors

Good morning, I am looking for help troubleshooting UCWa from ios device.

We have successfully logged in ok with android device in emulator externally but the ios (ipad etc) refuse to sign in.

I have tried to capture something using the ocslogging tool, what tickboxes should I be selecting to capture webticket errors?

The android gets the webticket no problem but the ios fails. I can see some entries on the fe server iislog so the connectivity itself is ok through the IIS ARR proxy.

Any help to troubleshoot would be appreciated

here is the ios log

Moving users from hybrid on-premises to Lync Online

We are in the process of moving users from our on-premises system (5000+) and it is finally moving at a steady pace but every so often it fails with the error message "request channel timed out increase timeout" error.  For the life of me I cannot find the settings to increase the time out time in any of the many web.config files I found under the Lync\Program Files folder.  Has anyone else had issues with this error?

Lync 2013 server - Install-CsDatabase System.IO.IOException

Hi everybody,

I'm facing a issue with my installation of my lync server 2013 when i try to publish a topology.

Server : One DC on Windows 2012 Server & one lync server 2013 installed on Windows 2012 server

The issue is, when i try to publish a topology i had this error message :

Creating database xds from scratch. Data File Path = C:\CsData\CentralMgmtStore\rtc\DbPath, Log File Path= C:\CsData\CentralMgmtStore\rtc\LogPath.
Exception Stack:
Type: System.IO.IOException, Message: The user name or password is incorrect.

I don't know why and which user account the wizard is trying to use (it's the user session account normally ..), i already had checked if my users account is member of CsAdministrator, RTCHSUniversalServices, RTCUniversalServerAdmins etc. but impossible to publish the topology ...

I really don't understand, if someone had an idea, i appreciate a lot :)

Thank you,

Removing Final Lync 2010 Front End server after Lync 2013 migration

$

I am in the final stages of a Lync 2010 to 2013 migration.  I am at the point of removing the Lync 2010 FE server.  All other Lync 2010 references have been removed.  I go into the Topology builder > Lync 2010 > Front Server > right click the 2010 FE server and select Delete.  The server is now removed.  I then publish the topology and get a message "When you delete an application or external server, you delete all configuration state for the hosted application. Do you want to continue?"  Yes or No.

My question is??  If I select yes, will it remove ALL Lync configurations including the 2013?  Or does this just remove the Lync 2010 configuration.

I was not able to find a definite answer and did not want to risk the chance of wiping out everything.

I referred to this article, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg195614(v=ocs.14).aspx, but it appears to remove the last FE server and publish an empty topology.

Any help would be appreciated before I make this job changing move.

Thanks,

Rick

Geolocation of DNS and Lync

Hi

We currently have Lync 2013 running with two front end servers, one in the US and one in the UK. We have an edge server in the US, along with an IIS server with ARR acting as the reverse proxy (RP). Our users are "registered" to the US front end (FE) server.

At the moment external access to Lync (without the need for VPN) is running fine.

What we are looking to do is, through our DNS provider, is set up geolocation for our DNS, and add an edge server and IIS server (RP) in the UK. So that a user logging into lync externally will have (for example) the IP addresses of the UK edge and RP returned, which will connect to the UK FE, if they are in the UK, and a US user will get the US IP addresses returned.

So would this work with lync? On the topology our FE's (under Resiliency) are set with the other as the associated backup pool (US>UK, UK>US).

In theory I think it should work, even with the users all being assigned to one pool.

I would love to hear back if anyone else has tried this out.

Many thanks.

Stuart

We have Lync 2013 infra with three sites. Each site is having one FE & and one Edge pool with 5 and 3 servers respectively

Recently, primary and secondary DNS servers were crashed for all lync servers in one of the lync site.

But we did not observe any kind of outage for Lync service.

Could you please help me to understand the reason for the same

Dear Team,

I have two Enterprise lync 2013 pools, abcPool and abcpool1. abcPool1 has got two servers, Server1 and server2. and abcpool has one FE server named "Server 3". and they have pool pairing.

Replication was fine between them when i had only one FE server in each pool, one day FE service broke on one of the FE server on abcpool1 and failed to start so i had to do failover to another pool, at that time i introduced one more FE in abcPool1, that why now 2 FEs in abcPool2. Server1 FE service was resolved by reinstalling the binaries. However after that im unable to get the backupservice state to normal, i tried the below articles with no luck,

Hello,

My Edge server is domain joined, so while installing local configuration store on Edge i've selected option "Retrieve directly from central management store" instead of exporting configuration. I am getting an error that statesautomatic collection  of configuration data failed.

Can anyone help please?
