Hi,

I have two customers with the same errors. They cannot share powerpoint presentation even if they have OWA server. Certificate is existing. We tried to rebuild the server using the New-OfficeWebAppsFarm command and test sharing but nothing is working. Is there anything else I can do to make this work?

Thank you,

Edge server external certificate renewal issue

Hi,

I am attempting to replace the external certificate on our Edge server that is expiring with a new one from a different provider.  The new certificate is a Comodo PositiveSSL Multi-Domain certificate with 10 SANs.  I was able to import the new certificate along with the Comodo root and intermediate certs.

I am able to assign the new certificate from the Lync Deployment Wizzard.  But the Lync Server Access Edge service will not start.  Event Viewer shows an event id 7024 error with the following details:

The Lync Server Access Edge service terminated with the following service-specific error:
%%3288104341

A Google search didn't return anything with the exact error (%%3288104341) code.  The closest I found pointed to a root or intermediate CA not being installed.  In my case, I'm fairly certain I have the correct Comodo root and intermediate certificates installed.

Does anyone know what error does %%3288104341 refer to?  Do I have the correct domain certificate (PositveSSL Multi-Doman) or do I need to get an Unified Communications cert?  What else am I missing?

Thanks!

Lync 2013 On Prem, Want Office Web Apps Cloud Pressense

Hello,

I have a Lync 2013 on-prem deployment and I am interested in leveraging Office Web Apps for PowerPoint broadcasts. I have successfully wired up our Lync server to our on-prem WAC server no problem. However, I have been asked if it is possible to leverage a cloud solution for this.

Two questions: 1. We have an existing O365 tenant. Can we point our on-prem Lync server at our O365 tenant and leverage Office Online?
2. If not, can we leverage an Azure service for this?

Thanks!

Hello Guys,

I have deployed lync server 2013 front end in my environment.
In general i need that lync server also worked as external service, because there is a need for internal users to have access rights to lync services from their mobile clients outside the office.

So, i need a real suggestion and experienced answer how to configure it.,
Also, how can i find step by step manual (which service i need install firstly and etc..)

Thanks in advance,

Migrate exchange and Lync from Resource forest to user account forest.

Hello everyone,

I need a help on below scenario where I want to migrate exchange and Lync from Resource forest to user account forest.

Scenario.

I have a forest named xyz.abc.com where I have one domain controller as DC1.xyz.abc.com and all my user account are created here.

I have another forest named gws.abc.com where I have one domain controller as DC1.gws.abc.com and which has two way active directory forest trust with xyz.abc.com

Now in gws.abc.com I have below configured servers.

10 exchange 2013 servers installed (CAS+MBX role) in one AD site.

4 exchange 2010 servers installed (CAS+HUB+MBX role) in another AD site.

All user have linked mailboxes with master account configured in xyz.abc.com

i also have 1 Lync site named Site1 with one pool named pool1.gws.abc.com installed with 3 frontend server, 2 SQL Server in Mirrored configuration and 2 access edge server in HLB.

i have Another Lync site named site2 configured with another pool named pool2.gws.abc.com installed with 3 frontend server and 2 SQL server in mirrored configuration. The frontend server pool in this site is associated with the access edge pool of site1 for external access.

My external domain is abc.com with below configuration.

All records configured in abc.com is pointing to exchange server and Lync server installed in gws.abc.com forest.

My user’s email address & sip domain is configured to follow firstname.lastname@abc.com.

What is the best possible way to migrate complete exchange and Lync environment from GWS.abc.com forest to xyz.abc.com forest?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to create non-Lync 2013 users to IM with internal Lync Users

$

We have a project where internal Lync 2013 users want to IM with external folks who are part of the same project.

If the external folks have Lync, I can federate with them and secure and limit the IM amongst the group.

I don't think that anonymous users in a meeting will work.

But of the folks don't have Lync, is there a way to create lync users without being part of the internal Lync users?

Thanks

can't delete old SQL store (thinks it still holds CMS but it doesn't)

After moving to SfB server and decommissioning our old Lync 2013 servers, somehow we were left with an old SQL store in the topology.

When I try to delete it I get "This SQL Server store is being used.  Remove the dependencies before deleting the store.  Affected services:"

There are no "affected services" listed.  Very useful error.

If I check the properties on this store, it says "the sql instance name cannot be modified because it hosts the Central Management store."  This, despite having run the commands to successfully move the CMS to one of the new servers. I cannot find any reference to it anywhere other than the topology. The server that held this store has had all its roles removed (The server itself is still operational).

How can I whack this old remnant out of the topology for good?

Thanks!

Persistent route from Edge Internal NIC?

$

Hi guys,

Setting up a Lync Edge 2013 server with two nics.

External NIC with external IP, submask and gateway (no dns?)

Internal NIC with internal IP, submask and DNS (no gateway)

When doing persistent routs for the internal nic, what servers/client are the edge supposed to talk to?

I have added the (servernetwork) since front-ends, office web apps and such things are there. Do I have to add each client subnet aswell?

Are the DNS correct? Is it a good idea to have it pointing towards the internal DNS? Its not a member of the AD even if we have added a static ip into the DNS.

What other server/names are the edge server talking to? poolname or servernames? lyncpool01.company.com or lyncfe01.company.com, I might have to add things to the local hosts file?

Skype for Business user not "searchable"

Hello everybody,

Maybe a "noob question" but I have a problem. When I search a user in the S4B client search, I can't find a user by typing his display name, I can only find him by typing his IMAddress : firstname.lastname@domain.com

Any help on this?

Thx,

Cannot publish new topology

The error message:"System.InvalidOperationException" "Cannot publish topology changes. Users or contacts are still homed on a pool that would be deleted. Move or remove the users or contacts before continuing."

Most -- but not all objects -- were moved from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013. The old Lync 2010 server has been decommissioned and is no longer available. I've run the script: FindObjectsInThePool.ps1 Lync-2010.domain.com and can see all those objects in the Lync 2010 pool. For the link to the script, see below.

Is there a way to delete those objects, so we can publish the new topology?

Lync Edge Server Not Allowing Messages from Internal to External Clients

$

Hello, hoping someone can assist with the issue we are seeing. We cloned an Edge server and put it into a new DMZ we are moving to (completely separate, stand alone 2012 R2 Server). We have exported the new topology from the current Lync 2013 FE server and imported it into this newly cloned Edge server to update the configuration. We have also updated the internal and external NIC's with the new subnet the server is in. All F/W rules are in place and Lync services are running on the Edge server. So the issue is users can sign in from the outside, start an IM with and send a message to internal users. The internal user receives the message but when the internal user tries to respond it comes up with "The action couldn't be completed. Please try again later." So we started a debug on the Edge server and were seeing errors. The strange thing is were seeing traffic trying to come out of the old NIC IP address. The old address was 10.60.0.x and we changed the NIC and topology to reflect 10.62.0.x. So can someone possibly explain where this setting is coming from and how we may be able to update it to the new 10.62.0.x subnet. As you can see below it is trying to communicate out using the old 10.60.0.143 address when we have updated the NIC and topology to 10.62.0.143??

Maybe I am missing something but every time I try to install the Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Resource Kit Tools it comes up with a warning that installation requires Visual C++ 2012 x64 Minimum Runtime 11.0.50727 .  The problem is I already have the latest and greatest Visual C++ 2012 x64 runtime version 11.0.61030.  Has anyone else run into this problem and is there any workaround?

Error when creating a new trusted application pool

$

We have Lync 2013 Enterprise in a 3-server pool.  We use Lync for IM, Presence. meetings, etc, but our phone system is completely separate from Exchange and Lync.  We have almost completed our migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.  All user mailboxes are now on Exchange 2013, with only a single application mailbox left on Exchange 2010.  When users were on Exchange 2010, they could access Lync IM through OWA, but users on Exchange 2013 cannot access Lync from OWA.I am trying to get OWA 2013 integrated with Lync, but I am running into problems from the outset.

I have been referencing a Microsoft document at : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13168.integrating-exchange-2013-owa-and-lync-server-2013.aspx

In my current configuration, the CsTrustedApplication and the CsTrustedApplicationPool both use the load balanced internal address for the Exchange 2010 servers (outlookmain.int.mycorp) rather than an actual server name.  I tried to create a new CsTrustedApplicationPool for the Exchange 2013 OWA using the load balanced internal address for the 2013 servers (oamain.int.mycorp) with the command: New-CsTrustedApplicationPool -Identity oamain.int.mycorp -Registrar MyCorp-Lync-FE.mycorp.com -Site 1 -RequiresReplication $False

I got the following warning:"Machine oamain.int.mycorp from the topology you are publishing was not found in active directory and will result in errors during Enable-CsTopology as it tries to prepare Active Directory entries for the topology machines.  If you choose to publish this topology, you must run Enable-CsTopology again after you join the missing machines to the domain."

The load balanced address oamain.int.mycorp is the AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUrl on all the Exchange Servers, so the address is in use within Exchange 2013.

Can I proceed with creating the new CsTrustedApplicationPool and CsTrustedApplication using this address rather than using a specific computer name?

Thank you for your help.

Lync meeting opens as an IM and no call option is found (Office 365)

Before I installed office 365, I could send meeting invites that worked with call/ desktop presentation options. But after installing office 365, when I send a lync meeting invite, it opens as an IM and I cannot call/ present my desktop. What's the solution for this?

Do I need an SBA for a remote office and does it give me call quality?

Hi,

I have a central site in the UK and I am now opening a branch site in India (Hyderabad) to act as a call centre to our customers in the UK.

My question is with over 150ms could the users just connect back to the Central site in the UK over a site to site Link (Call cost saving) or does adding a front end pool in Hyderabad as well as my front end pool in the UK resolve any latency issues?

Does having a front end pool in both locations solve any latency issues or would I need an SBA connecting to a SIP in India to get the call quality?

Any help would be much appreciated.

kindest regards,

Paul.

Skills Matrix Routing.

I have a requirement for specific Skills Matrix routing and was looking to see if this is possible in Lync/Skype.

Any ideas outside of Distribution Lists to skill set call routing? Could we create a group based on a particular attribute?

Paul.
